I have no clue what the price-points are, but every Cyberverse playset will be bought on sight. It's what I've been asking for for years.
CROTCH MISSILES!!!

Looking at how Megatron has evolved in the Movies - I think the initial jet-mode Megatron was the best. I don't like Megatron as a truck. I understand the whole "brother" thing - and I guess it kind of draws on the RID Magnus/Prime brother-fued truck vs truck...but I dunno... Although ... am I to understand that Megatron is now a Triple changer and turns into a truck just to annoy Prime with Truck-Envy?

Can't make up my mind on Shockwave yet, prob 'cos I've gone cool on the 'Movie Style'. At first I though Megatron with a cape was a rubbish idea, but now I'm starting to like it!
No Autobot police car still..... I can only hope.......
(kinda disapointed Ultra Magnus isn't in this one as well).

Wow. All of those deluxe class cars look really good - and yes - both DOTM Ratchet AND Ironhide look to finally be as they should!
As for Shockwave - I'm happy with him. ROTF Soundwave was so dissapointing - but this Shockwave is a nice piece of work!

That was shown in one of the Toy Fair galleries. I commented on the glasses at the time. This must be the first we've heard of it being a Preview figure, though.

Re: Ultimate Prime -
I'm not liking this because:
1. The arms on Optimus Prime (sans armor) are all wrong - the truck nose turning into the arms just dilutes the toy for me - I prefer the ROTF leader version. In fact - one of the reasons I got the ROTF leader version was because I saw the DOTM Ultimate Prime and decided "ok - clearly there's not going to be a better movie Prime toy than ROTF." The first leader Prime toy was fun, but really not very movie accurate - ROTF Leader looks fantastic and I guess that's it - because Ultimate Prime (sans armor) just doesn't do justice to the movie design.
2. I just have way to many Gundam vibes from the way that trailer armor looks when attached. It's a bit like X Gundam crossed with Strike Freedom - and I'm not a fan of this aesthetic... I would have prefered it to be more a la Powermaster Prime... which I guess it also is reaching for given the chest...but...whatever...
And a word about Megatron:
On the one hand - I'm happy he finally has a full skelatal frame instead of a spindly little arm or something... I also like the cape although...
What's with the Gundam influence? That cape is exactly a replica of the battle damaged EXIA from OO... So we've basically got X-Gundam/Strike Freedom vs. Exia...
and Megatron's truck mode bothers me... it's so banal for him... although...I guess from the perspective of a transformer - turning into a walther P-38 wasn't very menacing either...
However what I DO like is that Megatron's sad fate in the movie series is VERY SIMILAR to his fate in the comics.
This supposedly ultimate leader of the Decepticons keeps getting marginalized by the new bad guy toys and put in some pretty embarassing situations. It happened all the time in the G1 comics - Megs getting humilitiated by Shockwave, Megs being pushed off a cliff by Ratchet, Megs being taken over by Joey Slick, Megs being pushed into a warp-gate (or whatever that thing was called)...
Megatron REALLY only finally went back to being numero UNO in Transformers: Generation 2, where he WAS the "new bad guy toy" :-)
So... in a sense, Megatron's fate in the movie is really a bow to the comics and rebuttle of the cartoon (where Megatron would always be at the forefront).
The toys of Megatron show this - the first movie toy is, aesthetics wise - the most menacing in both modes. The second one has a really ranshackle feeling to the robot mode ("not enough parts to rebuild your arms Megatron sir..."), and now this third one is basically "I've been cut down to the bone and am forced to wear a cloack, being stealthy and hiding in the darkness".
This all really evokes fond memories of comics Megatron - the persistantly persecuted baddy who would have been the ultimate villain if not for the fact that he kept getting beaten up by Cybertron's chief accountant, and the Autobot's nurse :-)

What's with the Gundam influence? That cape is exactly a replica of the battle damaged EXIA from OO... So we've basically got X-Gundam/Strike Freedom vs. Exia... Megatron isn't carrying enough stabby implements to be Exia. He needs at least three more knives/swords than he can reasonably use before he is anywhere near that. :-) I actually think that the Megatron toys have been improving over the course of the three films. I regard the first one as the worst. A greebly mass in humanoid mode which transforms by folding up into an arbitrary shape which very questionable aerodynamics (actually he reminds me of one of the Mardook designs from Mac II in that regard). The new one at least turns into something my eye recognises. And the blanket is amusing - it looks as if he has been watching Sergio Leone films and has decided that this Clint guy looks tough, and that he hasn't quite got the poncho right..... But everyone's mileage will vary and when it comes to the movie toys I tend to only really be interested in ones which weren't in the movie so I'm not the best judge of this. Karl

True to form, I've changed my mind about DOTM Megatron within the span of a few hours...
This because I've been looking over Megatron toys over the years...because I'm trying to decide which version to get... none of them are satisfying.
With Prime - it was an easy choice: either MP-01/04, ROTF Leader/Buster, or Hybrid style.
I chose ROTF Leader because Buster was too expensive, MP-01 is great but too big and not compatible with any of the other TFs which are totally out of scale with it and Hybrid style is too small. MP and Buster are also too expensive to justify it IMO...
But with Megatron - the situation is much worse... G1 and MP are out of the picture; G1 because it has no poseability and I'm just not interested in that type of retro robot any more (for now)... BW (all the various configurations) are neato - but... they are not THE Megatron... I was kind of thinking about RID Megatron - but no... totally not Megatron...
ROTF Megatron looks worlds better than TF Movie 1 ... but... the spindly arm kind of annoys me...although maybe it shouldn't?
And thus DOTM Megs looks appealing because he's not deformed...
is that bad when a "battle damaged" toy with a cloak looks less deformed than a fully non-battle damaged Megatron?
Was the design of ROTF Megatron dictated by the "built from parts of other Decepticons" thing - and therefore they didn't have enough pieces to give him a proper arm??
Pete wondering what Megatron to get! :-)

I've heard that Generations War For Cybertron Megatron is a good version of the character. Of course he may be a little small going up against a Leader Optimus Prime.

Yeah, that's why I ultimately got Leader Megatron a ew minutes ago too ;-)
I thought for a while and decided that the Movie designs are really great - check it out:
Starscream is a slick and maneuverable, agile robot who turns into an Earth based jet that happens to also be one of the most maneuverable and agile fighter planes out there....
This is so true to his G1 Tech-spec which says he prefers "guile" to "brute force" in contradistinction to Megatron...
Now...check out leader ROTF Megatron... this guy is ALL about brute force. I mean - he doesn't need to have a big arm - a little spindly one is enough to do all the necessary things like delicately pick up humans to terrorize them for information... The other arm is a massive cannon that also doubles as a claw-arm.
He's brutish, he's nasty...he's thuggish and luggy and massive...
In short - he's as Megatron SHOULD be.
Now I'm wondering about how much I like ROTF Devastator...

There isn't a Starscream that turns into a Typhoon or a Gripen..... at best he turns into a reasonably manueverable aircraft, but by all accounts he hasn't chosen the top tier in sheer knife-fighting agility. Admittedly he has an unfair advantage in terms of not being limited to the single figure G's that a human-piloted aircraft can reasonably pull....... As to Megatron, I am not a fan of the aesthetics of it at all. It seems to be greebly for the sake of greeblyness. The look definitely seems to be popular in general but it isn't my thing at all. A shame. I was hoping for a Whirl repaint or something. Not liking the large encumberance slung under the nose at all. Not a good replacement for the rocket pods in my opinion. Karl

The world needs more crotch missiles. And tummy prisons. Oh yes Transformers needs more sexual-innuendos etc. made into the toys. Nothing can compare though to G1 Megatron's crotch lol. He surely packed a punch. On those Cyberverse figures, i do say its cool to see TF's with base modes again,

No. Armada Megatron's missile launching action beats that by a country mile. Isn't there an Action Master with a crotch mounted chain gun? we've got a thread for this smut somewhere.... Yup: X-Rated Transformers and Phallic Transformer Watch

qhey this thread has sauntered in a cool direction...
yeah im a big decepticon fan, and for me megs will always be the leader of the decepticons... i troubled long and hard over the best megs figure too.
i finaly broke down and wrote out my criteria and this was what i came up with... not leader class as im not into big toys and hate electronic gimmiks. not G1 because although G1 megs is a great toy, the leader of the decepticons transforming into a litttle gun to be weilded by someone else always jarred with me. he should transform into a martial vehical prefferably artillery-ish should be cybertronian mode as it shows arrogance and dissregard for humans (which i think fits megs very well) should have an impressive arm cannon
this ended up with a very short list WFC megs animated megs and movieverse megs
at the end of the day i felt that ROTF voyager megs was 90% there, i really like WFC megs and feel visually he is probably the "true-est" representation of megs but is a bit small for the role and his tank mode is a bit lacking.
i am really looking forward to DOTM shockwave as his gun arm is being torn off and fitted to my ROTF megs almost immediately. i feel with some conversion work and kitbashing this will make me an excellent megs.
i am also really looking forward to the DOTM megs as well as it is a cool addition and interesting figure but i think he will be my version of nemisis prime...
oh, and greebly is indeed an excellent word!

I wish that was the final name! It sounds like some hillbilly matriarch. I could just imagine her squaring up to Megatron with a shotgun: "Y'all Decepticuns shore better leave ma Autobot boys alone, else ah'll whup ya'll. Now git the hell out of ma galaxy!"

hehehe.
I count five Bumblebees at different sizes (Cyberverse Legion, Cyberverse Action Sets, Mechtech dlx, Mechtech Leader and Human Alliance Deluxe)
I feel Hasbro is rather overdoing it with different size classes here.
I worry about the Cyberverse Action Sets. A figure, available elsewhere, packed with a vehicle? I'll be pre ordering wave 2 as my "failure to restock after the first assortment" radar is tingling.

Peaugh has done video reviews of Cyberverse trailer Prime and Megs which are popping up on the various news sites like Seibertron. Have to say they look really nifty.
