It looks like it is a book covering cheap cash-in robot toys, the sort of thing you'd find in convenience stores. blog.japantimes.co.jp/japan-pulse/b-kyu-boom-the-magnificence-of-the-mediocre/ - Japan times article on a "b-kyu" trend (apparently "b-kyu" means approximately "just ok") In, short - it looks like it is a book that specialises in covering mediocre low-priced transforming robot toys. And yes, it does look a lot like a cut-rate Beast Wars style Panda. Which frankly is just a superb thing to be able to type. Karl

The featured ones look like those Dinosaur robots from Poundstretchers circa early 2000s.

I just happened to bump into this line today during a visit to Bristol Zoo. They are called Animal Bot. £6.50 each? No way...

i waaaaant thoooooooooose!!!!
Granted, they are BW wannabees, and they are cheaply made and cheaply designed toys, one observation I have is the designers seemed to come at this from the opposite angle of the BW designers. transformers has always focused on the robot mode as the most important aspect, and compromise the vehicle/beast mode. Especially during Beast Wars.(Alternators being one of the few exceptions) This line, the designers seemed to prioritize the beast modes. Even though the pictures are tiny, the beast modes seem to have decent to great paintjobs, and good detailing, with little to no robot mode kibble.
