This is by and far easily the worst piece of fiction FP has coughed up to date. Considering I can't stand their SG fiction, that says a lot. As for Timelines, at least the previous books, while imperfect have all had redeeming features. The original SG comic, and WoH comic were at least enjoyable reads, and made me more open towards sets I originally hated. They weren't great (Especially WoH), but I at least liked them. G2 Redux introduced new ideas that I've latched on to (Such as Transformers being built by humans on earth and not having as strong an interest in cybertron, since earth is their homeworld). But this... there was absolutely nothing redeeming about it. And that's all the way through. Just a horrible story, using terrible ideas, and a terrible execution. From here on out, I'm marking spoilers: There's absolutely no character developement, no character stands out from the others, it's just... everyone is completely interchangeable. Ultra Magnus could have been any SG autobot or nemesis prime, he's such a generic villain.
Kick-Off could have been Jackpot, or Sideswipe, or Jazz, or any autobot, again, extremely generic.
Overlord was just... there. He didn't provide any relevence to the plot. "Oh hey, the autobots are having trouble, let's go steal stuff from them!"
And the ending. I don't care that the destroyed the classicsverse. I just hate that it's done so absolutely stupidly, for the most absolutely stupid reasons.
The whole thing is absolutely pointless.
At the panel, all they did was talk about how awesome they were for destroying the classicsverse, and that they felt it needed to be done.
Why not focus on building the characters, and endearing us to the $600 worth of toys they're trying to sell us? How about actually telling a strong story?
The bios feature much stronger storytelling. In short, All Hail Megatron was a better story. And anyone who knows me knows I feel that's generally one of the worst pieces of TF fiction ever. Really, "Invasion" almost reads like someone had a hardon for Michael Bay. |

Yes, but they were actually citizensships in G2 Redux. They were treated as "earthlings" by human and cybertronians alike. Being handled much more like the children of immigrants how having any desire to return to, or care for the "old country." |

Like the cover.
Story is awful and a textbook example of how not to introduce a large cast in 1 issue and tell a story. Pacing is all over the shop, Dan Khanna does what he can, but this really is atrocious.
