I mentioned at the weekend that every year there's a Lego exhibition, primarily of railway, at the Steam Museum in Swindon. The 2012 event takes place on the 6th & 7th October. Details at www.steam-museum.org.uk/steam/lego.htm and www.greatwesternlegoshow.com/ So if anyone fancies going we could set a weekend event up.... The Steam Museum, which we visited at Swindon 2010, is a short walk from the Pizza place we've frequented.

Was it the giant mosaic that sealed the deal?

This:
"interactive Building - help create an all-new giant LEGO mosaic from 100,000 bricks!"
Plus:
"Brick Cafe - to keep you refreshed in first class style."
And:
"Visit the LEGO Shop and other independent LEGO traders for some great deals on some exclusive LEGO sets not available on the high street"

I've pencilled it in my diary. I'll have to see how much AA and my two London trips end up costing me.

That does look like being a fantastic show. I am half-tempted to see what I have available in the way of annual leave myself to see if I could make it down for it.

It is mainly trains. But a lot of trains. A LOT.
Someone had done some fab stuff with Space Monorail last time. And I think someone even had duplo.
There was also a HUGE battleship with remote control moving guns

I have Friday and Monday confirmed off work if need be. Plan to sort travel out at next day of pay (18th). Uncle Phil, is floor space still available at the Death Fortress? Would be looking to come down Friday, leave Monday or Sunday depending on travel costs. If need be, I can grab a B&B if that is imposing too much.

Very kind of you. I'll firm up arrangements after Aug pay and then I'll be all sorted.
I may need to be alone if you have "hardcore" SJH videos though. Huh huh huh.

Looking at both trains and planes, it seems the cheapest fares total is circa £130 for there and back! Fecking hell.

Payday today so it was time to sort out train tickets to the Swindon Death Fortress and back. Since my last check the price had soared to £200! Cue a very frustrating hour looking through websites, registering, etc just to get the cost down to £117 (involving mind-bogglingly early travel times: not looking forward to my 6am departures there and back). Want to bang my head off a wall. Why must travel round the UK be so difficult? So the deed is done now and a lean month beckons!
