Anyone else eat their Cinnamon Swirls by unravelling so you get the super flavoured bit from the middle last? Guilty

Got mine on Friday and was CUTA for £15. Add shipping and all in I've paid £65 for 2 cassettes. So before I'd even opened the (tiny) box expectations were high. But inevitably Rumble and Ravage don't live up to the price tag. Neither are as good as the excellent Laserbeak. Ravage's transformation is very clever but the robot looks a little odd especially the head, probably as its formed from two halves. Rumble looks the nicest in robot mode but his transformation is disappointing. It's almost the same as the original, arms unfold from the top, legs from the side, but the head folds up from the back instead of popping up spring loaded, which is my favourite feature of the original. Rumbles guns are separate but I can live with that - its amazing they managed to get Ravages and Laserbeaks as part of the toy. Rumbles guns can be stored in hidden compartments in Soundwave which is a nice touch.
The pile drivers are also nice but in not sure what to make of the mode where they plug into Soundwave in tape mode (reserve battery pack?). Neat toys but they don't match the standard of their condor brother or the price tag.

That's very interesting. Sorry you're not as pleased with them. It does seem a lot of money for two small figures. I know I'll get them no matter what, but at least now I'll know not to get over excited about them.

I recieved these on Friday too but was lucky enough not to have to pay CUTA so they only cost me £30 in all. I agree with your comments - especially with Rumbe because apart from articulation, I felt the original was pretty much spot on. This MP Rumble is just that little bit nicer (but with no pop up head). Have never liked the arm piledriver things in any fiction so not too fussed over them as an accessory.
Ravage I was a little dissapointed with - so tiny. I think I would have prefered it if he had kept more of the original transformation and 'thickened out' some other way. I feel the Universe version did a better job in a way.
Still very nice toys and will do nicely until I can afford a MP Soundwave to go with them! The originals were also my first ever TF toys when I was young too.

Wow at £30 I'd be very happy with them. Where did you order them from Matt? I'd prefer to get my Frenzy and Buzzsaw from there!

It was on pre order from Hobby Link Japan - I wish I'd have gone for Frenzy/Buzzsaw as well but they're all on order stop now. Prowl and Bluestreak work out quite cheap from them too.
Outside of Ebay, I've always bought Japanese TFs from HLJ and have never incurred customs. (Saying that, this is the first thing I've bought in a long time).

Roger that! Do you pay at the time of pre-ordering, or when it's ready to ship?

When it's ready to ship. I realised now that they you can set up an RSS feed for HLJ searches, so you'll get notifications everytime a new item is added to their inventory. Perfect!
My MP Cassettes are in holding at TFSource waiting for their 2 brothers to join them before despatch.

I think folk are a bit gun-shy over HLJ after the massive shift in the Yen rate followed by much more intensive monitoring by HMRC- remember Masterpiece Megatron? I don't think anyone in the UK who ordered one from HLJ got it through the Ring Of Steel without a £30 fine. For a while almost nobody on t'Hub (as it was at the time) could get anything from HLJ uncustomed. I thought it had been added to The List like BBTS, where for years nobody could bring in anything from them unexamined.
Of course, customs stops are random and are only in place to prevent the importation of contraband.

I must just be very lucky then. My MP Megatron was from HLJ and I didn't get charged any customs then either. One of the only things I can remember getting custom charge from was a DVD boxset (but not from HLJ). This is not an offer to do everybodys ordering! . I've probably jinxed my luck now anyway...

Yup, MP Megs was the last time I ordered from HLJ prior to Sideswipe last year. Got hit by customs for Sideswipe too but the total was still a little less than ordering from Kapow so it was worth the chance. Ended up getting Red Alert off ebay which sailed through customs so only ended up costing £60 despite the toy actually costing much more.
