Blimey I've no idea.
But I'll tell ya sumat, those vehicles are some of the best in the history of action figure vehicles!
I got much of an AF command centre a couple of years ago. Missing a few pieces, especially the jail sections, but it's nevertheless such a fun base. I love bases to. Cardboard HQ is so awesome.

Ah. So many memories:-
1. Headquarters - one of the best base playsets I can recall from my childhood - so many desperate defences and stunning assaults were carried out within its environs. 2. SAS Force Panther - I just love the look of it, and the black and yellow scheme still appeals to me than any of the VAMP schemes 3. Laser Exterminator - It is a giant laser-cannon, owned by the evil villians and designed to exterminate things in their pursuit of global domination. Fantastic 4. ATC - combination troop transport, fire-support and mobile command centre. Great fun to play with when I was a nipper. 5. Cosmic Cruiser - the only one to make the list which I did not own. Fantastic chunky, boxy-looking spacecraft. Still have a real fondness for its look.

I only had one vehicle from that period (I even remember buying in the toy section of the local Co-op department store as if it were yesterday, funnily enough), the Z-Force Whirlwind.
My best friend had the Q-Force Swordfish and Stingray and we had a lot of fun with those.
The carded figures turned up extremely cheaply at our local newsagent around 1990 (maybe later) and my brother and I bought quite a few to augment the old collection.

Yep. A cardboard base was fun to make up with card and cellotape lying around but I could never associate it with a proper toy. My folks refused to get me Castle Greyskull because they thought it was cardboard.

Never actually had any. It was the UK comic that was my full experience of M.A.S.K.

Me neither. They always appeared to me to be a TF cash in but without the robot element

Yeah it's gotta be the bases for me too. Castle Greyskull and Snake Mountain. Owned no He-Man at all as a child. Enjoyed the cartoon though.

1) Attack TrackFor years I'd have said that the Battle Ram was my favourite vehicle. But then I bought a second hand attack trak..... and it's superb. Some of you have seen and played with mine. It moves in a straight line it moves really really quickly and the trak action is hypnoptic. Fab toy 2) Battle Rambig and chunky, missile launching, separates into two vehicles one of which can fly about. Fab, just fab. Love mine, which I'd wanted since the 1980s 3) Castle Greyskullyeah I'll get some stick for posting it this low down but I'm sorry I always wanted those two vehicles more. 4) Jet SledIt's Flash Gordon's Sky Sled from the film. You have to love it. So very nearly bought one of these years ago, love the mini vehicle/weapons pack 5) Talon Fighter & Point DreadAn extra bit for Castle Greyskull and a bird sculpted fighter craft. Fab, Honourable mention: the Wind Raider

BTW if you fancy a challenge look at the Space Force Battle Gear: www.bloodforthebaron.com/toys/002/space/010/index.htmlThis stumped me as a child: I could recognise the Commander's Hat and the Pilot's helmet, their Gun and a cut down version of the Patroller/Security Trooper gun but where are the rest from? Forgot to come back to this! They're all (bar one) GI Joe Weapons and accesories: Steeler's Helmet Visor Breaker's Headset Destro's Gun Gung Ho's Gun Major Bludd's Gun The Pilot/Commander's gun is Snake Eyes' Uzi and the Patroller/Security Trooper gun belongs to Flash If you look in the Enemy set there's Short Fuse's Mortar too.

It was the first time I had seen one run. I knew someone who had one when I was younger but as I recall it didn't work - I was quite impressed when I finally saw one in all its functional glory.

YES! Been waiting for this. Good use of Power Deploy TM wind up motors and engineering into the cargo pods. Of course the defining feature was the Magna Lock TM action, so the figures could stand on various points on the vehicles without falling off in play due to magnets on their feet. Really drove the imagination into acting out play scenes in space! Difficult to find a good resource online, but Virtual Toy Chest is ok, but misses a lot of the small base pods, which were some of the best parts of the toy line. Try also Figure Archive and ToyFinity. 1. Shadow Bat. Cargo bay, pop out guns, ports for 2 smaller Shadow Parasites and it just looks evil! 2. Starmax Bomber. Cargo bay, pop out guns, opening mid section, bombs. 3. Medical Bay. Ahh, it has a lil' observation bed for the figures. 4. Shadow Parasite. Compatibility with Shadow Bat, lil' pop out guns. 5. Command Post or Laser Artillery. Can't really decide, both have similar playability with seats for extra figures beyond the main seat.

My mate had the Starmax bomber and another friend that lived further away had (I think) the Starhawk. Those are the only Starcom toys I had any contact with. I remember being amazed that the Starmax had a compartment containing a little folded up fighter (EDIT- the Star Wolf. Was that sold separately?). Nifty design.

It's a shame I didn't have more of the little cargo things. I think it's a brilliant concept, and I absolutely loved the rRRrrrRRrrrr noise of the cargo bay sliding out of the back of the ship! And magnets! Why wasn't this line more popular?

I remember the cartoon- the same friend that had the Starmax had a VHS with two episodes on it. Even at 11 I remembered thinking that the acting was nonexistent- it seemed like the VAs had turned up for a read-through and they just recorded that and stuck it into the soundtrack.
Not that acting ever factored into the popularity of a cartoon. Still, I don't remember it being on TV so perhaps lack of promotion killed it in the UK.
That or there was just so much else out there at the time. Regardless of quality, every year has its winners and losers. What year was Starcom?
