Skywarp, Christmas 1984. Cost me the majority of my Christmas money, and my father some of his sanity. He couldn't understand why I spent so long trying to decide between Thundercracker and Skywarp when they were exactly the same. One day later I got Cliffjumper so that he would habe someone to battle against. They remain with me to this day - the only survivors of my original collection.

I don't remember if they were my first, but they're the first ones I remember: Prowl and Ironhide in '84.

Ratchet and Mirage, Christmas 1984. I was 2 and I suspect they were a bit beyond me. I assume I got Thundercracker soon after (at least I must have done as I vaguely remember already owning him when I got Starscream a couple of years later) and one of my earliest reliable memories is getting Ravage and Rumble in Asda at the bottom of Croftfoot Road. Laserbeak and Frenzy were bought later and I think my Dad brought home Bumblebee and Cliffjumper from work one day as a random treat. I was far too young for them and my dad spent half his time putting them back together as best he could, but I guess my folks kept getting them because the transformation aspect encouraged both patience and thought. From the way my parents describe young Nick, I think I was sorely lacking in both -Nick

I think this thread has been done before. Phil will know. Sorry for the delay. The search function is F***ed which hampered my efforts. Yes it's been done before, and yes Ian started it then too. Bumped & Merged so we can see who's changed their story since last time ;-) There may be another example out there cos I can't believe we've not done this since 2008. Bear With while I hunt it down.....

My first Transformers happened to be Tailgate and Hubcap, bought for me in leisureworld in Shipquay street, long since closed. I loved those bad boys and still have them, despite both sporting some damage from childhood play and in Tailgate's instance the time he spent lost at school.
I used to pretend they where Bumblebee and Jazz, until with my own pocket money I bought pretender Bumblebee. I also saved up and bought Powermaster Optimus Prime, a truly awesome toy in my view. Unsure when Ruckus was released, but bought him myself too. That would have been the majority of my collection early on, aside from some items I had traded for, Snaptrap and Nautilator (for Raphael the tmnt), Galvatron (from a cousin). Mostly I got the comics back then, g2 I went a bit more into things.....
Marc.

Now the threads have been merged we have three posts of Ralph telling us he had Seaspray.
Maybe this struck a chord with me because he was my first too.

I remember doing at least two of them over the years! Gotta give Big Phil sumat to do! ;D

Do it Big Phil! Tell us! You're as terribly old as me, you were there at the start, not like some of the young pups on here who's first TF was a Special Teams member or a Headmaster!
I predict Big Phil's first TF was... a Breast-force member!

Apparently my first was Bumblebee. But Ben (being older) already had a few that I'd have played with before I was allowed to have any, so there's a period there where I can't quite remember. The first one that I have clear memories of absolutely being mine in a very selfish three year old "you cannot touch this until I get a new one" way, was Sludge.

I have no idea, honestly. Mirage or Trailbreaker or Sunstreaker. I know I had Ironhide quite early on, but one of his wheels fell off out of the box so he was returned to the shop and Hound came back instead, which is my first definite memory.

I think a lot of the early TFs had issues with missing pins and screws and things. My Snarl's leg fell off straight out of the box. I had to sort of balance him carefully in robot mode until I picked up a junker on eBay many years later.

Never had any QC issues at all with Transformers as a kid. I can't recall any schoolmates having problems with their TF toys either.

Hmm. I think Ben may be misremembering, as one year I got the rereleased Ironhide (the classic heroes version) for Christmas with that exact problem... I think that for Ben it happened with Wheeljack. Also, I got Action Master Optimus one year and he didn't have the rubber band in his hips so couldn't stand at all. I've rather wanted a replacement to this day...

Since the last thread I have discovered my baby book and now realise my memory was slightly hazy. I now believe my first Transformer was Sludge alone (or as Mum wrote "dinosaur robot" or something similar) and not Hotspot, Streetwise and Blades who I think arrived a year later. What if anything I got for the Christmas between I'm not sure about, need to track down the old photo albums.

You had a baby book? Pictures! Thankfully no. More a fancy scrap book, dates and times, birth announcement from paper, christening, projectile vomiting, birthday cards, first words, (though technically not as my neighbour heard me talking when I was by myself, so no one knows how long I had been doing it) first time I walked, transformers gifts, christmas stuff, first day at nursery, school etc.
