Phil needed a bath.
My first encounter with TF toys was at a friend's house - he had Op, Sideswipe, Hound, Mirage, Soundwave, Buzzsaw & Brawn. He would go on to buy Megatron in 85.
My younger brothers bought a few early on - Topspin, Red BB (from the old Bentalls dept store, 3rd floor toy dept) which broke quickly and was exchanged for Warpathh. Powerglide & Huffer followed and then we got an Ironhide with a US 85 catalogue.
My first purchase was a Skids from a jumble sale - sans weapons and with an already knackered waist joint.
My brother got Onslaught and Brawl at some point in 86
I got my brothers Rodimus Prime Chistmas 86 and at around the same time we got a Joustra Diaclone Windcharger and Gears from a cheapy shop in Kingston.
I bought Flywheels pretty soon after he came out - I wanted an 88 catalogue and he didn't have one - from Woolworths in Kingston and a Wideload with Shockwave decoy from Bentalls - toy dept by that time was on the second floor.
Didn't buy many TFs the next few years but in 89 I bought PM Op from Woolworths. Nosecone arrived from a jumble sale as did Pretender Grimlock's robot.
1990 - Snarl from a Market stall. Shockwave, Devastator, Blaster, Grimlock, Prowl & Starscream AMs
Constructicons from Woolworths - 1990 or 1991. At around this point I was given my friend's TFs when he was clearing out.
1991 - Classic Combaticons. Wheeljack & Sunstreake and Grimlock & Sludge from Woking TRU when at University.
1992 All the Predator Jets, bar Skydive, and Skyquake.

I wish I could properly remember. I reckon it's my yellow Cliffjumper, but I really don't know.

Blimey, seems like a looooooong time ago! I got Brawn and Skids for my birthday. As one of my first was Skids, TFs must have been out for a bit before I got one. I do remember I'd been drooling over them for some time before I got my sweaty little mits on one. I then got Ramjet and Megatron for Christmas. And then on Holiday the next spring I got Optimus Prime, I recall he was in foreign packaging for some reason. I also got Starscream early on as well. My brother had Megatron and Prime same as me. His first was the Rumble and Ravage two pack (now in my posession! As are all his TF toys! Ha Ha Ha!). Seem to remember he had Jazz early on. Another shopping trip I remember quite well, although I've confussed myself with when this was, I got Mirage, Astrotrain and Shrapnel in one go, and my Brother got Blitzwing and Ratchet. And one day, not sure when this was either, although I know I'd been wanting him for a while before I got him, my Mother and Brother came home with Prowl for me, and Wheeljack for my Brother. How marvelous! (sorry this was just supposed to be your first- got carried away! Ah the memories!) Ian Before and after my PROWLMENT, there were mini-Autobot fests. Bumblebee, Seaspray (who was EVERYWHERE), Warpath, Beachcomber, Cosmos, Powerglide. And other early intakes were Tracks, Thrust, Inferno, Grimlock and Sludge. My Dad searched the nation for a Soundwave. But none could be found. Not a year earlier I remembered looking up at them on the shelves, transfixed. I made myself a cardboard cut-out one.

This thread is before my time, so I think it's safe for me to post here, although I'm sure I've mentioned it loads anyway...
My first encounter with a Transformer was in the local doctor's surgery waiting room, when I imagine we'd gone there for a pre-natal check-up for my youngest brother. Another boy there had Optimus Prime, trailer and all, and I decided this was the greatest toy ever. This opinion has not changed.
For the Christmas immediately following that I was still getting MotU toys (I think that fateful encounter was too close to Christmas for me to change my mind about what I wanted), but I did get Castle Greyskull, so I'll not complain about that (except to my idiot past self who sold it at a car boot sale). But I did get a non-Transformers, green steam train transforming robot. I think it might have been a Grandstand one, but I can't remember now. That was my first transforming robot toy.
My first actual Transformers were for my seventh birthday. I got Grapple and Optimus Prime in the morning, and given there wasn't a lot of time before school I opted to save Optimus for the evening when I could savour him. Thus Grapple was my first, proper Transformer. And this is why I must seek out the Earthrise version when I can...

Once I got here I found some unfinished business and have dealt with it.
