That way if I wake up and the sky is purple and there is a big swirly plughole thing up there I can stay put in the house until it is all over..... Karl

I've got a Hogmanay party at my house tomorrow night. Nibbles, booze and probably arguments aplenty.

New Year's Eve and I appear to have joined the ranks of people affected by the lurgy.
Also, the last year went by too fast. :\ Why is it nearly 2008 already? Where did all the time go?!

Had a really rough night with the toothache again. It is now at the point where my temple is also hurting as well as the tooth. I did'nt sleep until 6am.
Nowhere round these parts will treat me until later in the week. So right now I have to let the wrestlers ethic kick in and put up with the pain.

I've had the cold today. Unfortunately colds are a real hazard for me as anything else wrong with me effects the CMT and lays me low.

Oh, Ken I feel your pain, I've had wisdom tooth issues since Christmas Eve. My course of antibiotics ended as the bell chimed the new year, so I 've been in pain and unable to drink all holiday.
Back at work today. Booo!

((Crossposted from the blog. Apologies for language, lemme know if I should edit some of it out for posting here.))
Happy fucking New Year. Now let me ask a question.
Does anyone know who the hell is in charge of making the decision as to whether fares increase and by how much for the rail network here in the UK? I want a telephone number. I wish to have a personal chat with him or her and ask some questions so that the latest fucking increase at least makes fucking sense to me.
Sonuvabitch. This is fucking ridiculous. It should not be cheaper to get a goddamn domestic flight than it is to travel by train. Especially when we're all about reducing carbon emissions and whatnot and encouraging people to use alteratives to air travel. Jesus Christ, what are they thinking?!
I can't get over this. It's pissing me the hell off. And if I had more energy in me I'd type up a proper Ravenological Bitchfest detailing exactly why. With statistics and links and goddamn pictures if I can find some suitable ones. Those of you who've been used to my ranting about Stagecoach from when I used to live in a different town can perhaps look forward to a new bitchfest target: Network Rail. Different company, same fucking uselessness in the public transport system.
Goddammit, but I hate some things about my country sometimes.

I'm travelling back to London on the train tomorrow. I'll be surprised if I can get there without changing to a coach. I seriously considered going to an airport and flying there. It's almost as inexpensive travelling by plane as it is on the train.
Edit: I see Raven has similar feelings on the train debacle.

Raven - I would second your anger about train fares. The current level of fares where I live is absolutely absurd. It's fifteen minutes (give or take) from Falkirk to Glasgow by train, and costs near enough £8 cheap day return. When I'm down at my Mum's I can get a train to York (about an hours journey) for about the same price. The comparison does not amuse me.

I think train fares are reasonable. But I get 1/3 off for being disabled and always book in advance so....

It's the buses too. Aparentley the increases are to cover Firsts increasing costs. As if the fares are not unfair enough. Got a dental appointment for as early as the 10th At least it is an appointment though.

I'm with Raven on train fares. Travel to/from Edinburgh this New Year cost me a frightening amount of money and I'm somewhat worried about my budget this week and next as a result. Would have got the bus but A: was still feeling off-colour so bus not a good idea and B: didn't want to trust my bag to the bus hold this time of year. They tend to be thrown into buses at peak times, I've noted.
RE: New Year: Thanks to Gavin again for putting me up. I enjoyed playing TF Risk with the gang, etc.
The Space Lurgy had one last nasty surprise. Nose started dripping again Hogmanay evening so drinking was cut short and I spent most of New Years Day permanently blowing my nose, which dampened my mood somewhat. On the way back home today, popped into chemist who recomended Sudafed and it worked! If only I had had that a few days ago! Damn it.
Hopefully the final end has been reached before I completely run out of days off!

It's the buses too. Aparentley the increases are to cover Firsts increasing costs. As if the fares are not unfair enough. Ah, First. And not long after daily fares rose 55p in the summer in Glasgow, yet with no increase in quality of service. Their buses are filthy and nothing is ever done about the high amount of anti-social behaviour on their buses. I'm always worried if I have to sit near the back, where most of the bother usually is. If it's a very late night, I choose to walk home or get a taxi (even though that is even more expensive) because so many of the late buses in particular (especially the numbers 9 and 62) are not safe I use the buses because I have to, not because I choose to. Provide clean transport and make it safer and the high fares might be more justifiable. -Ralph
