Swerve & Cosmos are out in Hong Kong. US release shortly.
Tailgate & Skrapnel are next .... prob a couple of months yet if the size lasts that long. word is these aren't selling great in the US which is a big shame. The size has been kiboshed by the poor tapes that preceded the Op & BB. Op & BB have shown up in TRU here but no sign of Megatron or Starscream. I'm not taking chances on Swerve & Cosmos

Yep, I think I may have to import the whole series if I don't see any. A shame they aren't selling well in the States. Maybe they don't appeal to kids?

Is it possibly too much of the same thing again? Initially I was going to ignore these, then decided I'd get them to go with Metroplex, but having branched from that into buying some Beast Hunters commanders when I found Shockwave I really think the Generations ones are seriously inferior. Mind you the Takara colours on Megatron do make that one look very appealing and I'm always up for insecticons. But I think to your average toy fan there's nothing in this line that really makes them worth buying.
I get stuck with scale too. I'd buy the cosmos from this line to go with the IDW deluxes, sure, but not to stand next to the Generations Optimus.

Well most TF toys are aimed at kids so whether the likes of us buy them or not makes no difference.

I'm wondering if doing Op etc first was a mistake..... But, like I said, many stores still have the tape legends warming their shelves. I love them they are fine fine toys

Absolutely. I don't see why these would appeal to kids when the Beast Hunters equivalents are more relevant to them, are largely cheaper and look better. Would kids worry if their Metroplex had a BH Prime instead of the tiddly one in the picture on the box on his shoulder?
Mind you, if we were still kids it would do. Let's hope they get a few more out. The upcoming ones do look a lot better than Prime & Bumblebee.

I love them they are fine fine toys I do think when they're well made they're fantastic. I picked up Air Vehicon from the Prime line this morning - perfect little figure. Totally agree Optimus was a wrong start point for generations. Cosmos and Swerve look set to fit into the deluxe lineup; it didn't need another Prime. But I guess the thinking was more figures to go in all of Metroplex's bays.

I don't really worry to much about scale when it comes to Transformers - considering how far out of scale different toys alt-modes tend to be it doesn't really bother me. I'm quite fond of these little guys - I like the look of most of them and the little companions are fantastic. Not sure I'd be minding to get them all, but I can see myself possible springing for Swerve and his friend Comrade Flanker perhaps. Karl

I want them all. I have Swerve and Cosmos and they're light years ahead of the earlier ones. That's good, because I picked up Starscream so I could have a minicon Waspinator that's in scale with G1 Classics, and found them both to be really shit toys. (Can't find a reason to bother with megatron or bumblebee, and never found optimus)

Bumblebee sort of makes sense, but only if you like the IDW look, which I don't really.

The last IDW design I liked for 'bee, was EJ Su's. But yeah, he's the only one of these four that comes close to having a reason to be a cybverse commander. And even then, it's too small for him, though not as glaringly as the others.
I'd have rather they dump the pointless minicons (nothing personal against minicons in general, just find them pointless here), and use the budget and resources in the main toy, and made it a full, true scout. Cyberverse commanders are just a bad place for minibot updates. Too small for mainline, and too big for cyberverse. I have a hard time finding a point to them.
Maybe if Wheelie or the insecticons, or even rattrap turned up as one, I might feel different?

You're wrong, they're just the right size for Minibot upgrades. Swerve and Cosmos are far chunkier than Cyberverse Commanders and fit in perfectly with the larger toys. The same seems to be true for the forthcoming Tailgate and Insecticon I disagree. Cybverse is too small for a proper display. Scouts are the best size for minibots. These commanders are just too short. And im not judging the minicons based on waspinator, im judging them on the fact that the budget and plastic that goes into them could have been folded into the toy itself to make it a true scout. I'd rather that, than a glorified accessory.

They ain't Cyberverse: Cyberverse need to have 3mm hands and these haven't. I've got Huffer and Commander Op standing with Swerve & Cosmos and later are noticeably more bulky.
When I get home I'll dig some older scouts out for comparison.

'Rumours of their demise have been greatly exaggerated' The almost instant sell-out of the Cosmos single has me worried though. That tends to happen at BBTS when something is destined to never arrive (see 3rd party thread regarding Animated Huffer and Pipes).

D'awww. So cute! Really looking forward to him and Swerve. It's always nice to see Cosmos getting some love, but his MTMTE incarnation is massive- a similar size to Powerglide and Fort Max, so probably voyager/ultra sized if you wanted one to match his on-panel appearance. Unless someone does a massively oversized KO of him, this is probably all we're gonna get. I remember the 6" Titanium, and the Universe figure, both sadly shelved.

Heck yeah. That's the stuff. That's Classics Shrapnel right there, baby.
I hope they do the other two G1 Insecticons like this! Not much chance though I fear.

I suspect this one is down to another toy line owning the name rather than fear of causing offence to people who don't like to be reminded that things break off other things.

Or simply that as a common use word they might not be able to trademark it. (That said, there is a DC Character called Shrapnel so they may have sneaked a trademark registration in whilst Hasbro wasn't looking).

Can't help but feel it will be worth waiting to see what Takara do for Skrapnel's deco.
Despite being a long-term Tailgate fan, and loving MTMTE, I'm not crazy about this toy. Can't completely put my finger on it, though the sparse robot mode decoration and the paint apps on the car mode aren't helping.
I might pick it up on the chance that I'll regret not doing later, but I'm thinking that between my G1 original and the Encore reissue I'm good for Tailgates.
