Okay, here's the thing. Imagine, if you can, that Tomy Takara are planning 10 Encore 2.0 releases in 2011 to co-incide with Transformers 3. As you're a knowledgeable fan, they've come to you for advice.

What 10 Encore 2.0's would you release? (You are also allowed to package up small Transformers into gift sets as well.)

e-Hobby'll probably want some recolours as well, so make sure you include a few possible options.

1) Devastator. E-Hobby can have G2 & Diaclone sets.

2) Victory Sabre. Black versions as repaints.

3) Wheeljack*. Diaclone Marlboro colours as an e-Hobby exclusive

4) Sunstreaker*. Diaclone Red & Police colours as exclusives.

5) Mirage*. Diaclone Orange repaint as an exclusive.

* - These three will complete the Japanese reissues of the original Autobot cars.

6) Leo Kaiser. E-Hobby can have a Rescue Force exclusive with two new coloured jets completing the combined robot.

7) Defensor. E-Hobby get Guard City and this time they can do it right with an all red Fire Chief eliminating the odd pale blue remaining from Hotspot.

8) King Poseidon. A black/grey/grey blue "from the depths" E-Hobby repaint.

9) Computron . As for E-Hobby - a black and purple Decepticon version

10) Abominus. E-Hobby get a green monsters repaint.

1 - Leokaiser as phil said the rescue force recolour is a must.

2 - 2 actionmaster sets 5-10 figures something like the Japanese decoy boxsets. Most AM have a pretty good range of recolours and the new character moulds in particular have potential as movie characters.

3 - Raiden/Trainbots - theres always the Diaclone recolour if nothing else.

4 - Thunderwing and black or blue whatever.

5 - Artfire, Inferno or grapple or Hauler. Or a Targetmaster repaint of Grapple to mix it up.

6 - Some kind of Micromaster set. Repaints either as Gi characters (Overload to Prime or whatever) Though in Totes case the original is renamed Ironhide and the tote gets soem new colours. Totes the wrong one isn't it? Whoever it is.

7 - Japanese cassttes, most look a bit naff but who doesn't want more cassettes, espcially if they lead to some Kiss Player type repaints.

8 - Struggling now, Block City and the orginal figures via Ehobby.

9 - Dinobots whatevers available just let ehobby do there thing with them.

10 - A new minibot set this time with Bumblejumper, ehobby can do a South American variant set.

Woohoo! I did it. All 10.

Black Shadow

Blue Bacchus is a Crossblades repaint.

If they did these it'd be more likely that the main versions would be the Japanese release and E-Hobby would get the Western versions. I womder if they'd actually do a Japanese Vroom ?

Has Grapple had a major release as a Japanese reissue ? I know there was the convention one a few years back. There's already a TFC Inferno but the first post didn't say no reissues so....

Tote is Ironhide already. In fact if you read my Micromaster reviews I've mapped nearly all the first year Micromasters to an earlier Transformers toy without repainting. The only one that really needs it is Overload - thought 1990s the Construction patrol could do with a green repaint

Blaster = Broadcast
Jazz = Stepper
Inferno = Grapple
Soundwave = Soundblaster

Prowl = Bluestreak & Smokescreem
Starscream = Thundercracker, Skywarp, Acid Storm & Sunstrom. Remould the head for Thrust, Dirge & Ramjet

Between Sideswipe, Jazz, Circuit, Kick Off and Prowl you have a base for almost any Autbot car. A lot of late euro autobots like Turbomasters and axelarators would work.

tracks - Sunstreaker (I know the head doesn't work so well) and and any other autobot car that wasn't covered by the first group.

Hmm okay. Trying to keep to my own ideas here combined with what I'd like, and what I think would sell. Also in the style of the reissues, I've limited myself to two 'big' high-price items



1. Wheeljack. E-hobby repaint - Slicer

2. Mirage. E-hobby repaint - Skid-Z (ho ho ho)

3. 4-pack of the Dinosaur cassette combiners. Maybe some MAD colours for an e-hobby repaint

4. 4-pack of the Slamdance / Squawkbox cassette combiners. E-hobby repaint with each pair in the corresponding colours maybe, so you can get each robot in a uniform colour?

5. 6-pack of Japanese-exclusive headmasters. They'd sell AND annoy those who bought them. E-hobby would be the white versions, or something a bit more imaginative.

6. Chromedome. E-hobby would be the horrendous 'Arcee' repaint concept in pink and white!

7. Metalhawk. Because I just had to get a pretender in there SOMEWHERE. E-hobby, no idea.

8. Liokaiser - high price item. E-hobby repaint is Rescue Force (yes, I said I was trying not to copy anyone, but how could I not?)

9. Scorponok - high price item. The E-hobby repaint will be Black Zarak. (I was toying with the idea of Scorponok in Movie colours, but you can't deny people Black Zarak)

10. A wild card choice. A blind packed box of Actionmasters, in the style of the Micromasters/Landcross reissues. 6 Actionmasters (Prime, Jazz, Sideswipe, Starscream, Bombshell, Banzaitron) with 2 chase repaints (Prime into Ultra Magnus, Starscream as uh, GHOST STARSCREAM)


Other repaint concepts I'd like to see of already reissued toys:

Bruticus - Turbomaster

Jazz - Movie Jazz (in silver)

Prowl - Movie Barricade (or Mexican Prowl, ho ho)

Starscream - Movie Starscream. Or Acid Storm. Or any other decos.

You know that Chromedome besides being very Masculine actually looks good, it would have needed an Arcee head to really work. If only Arcee had become a headmaster in Japan we might have gotten Arcees head sold as one of the individual figures.

I had Chromedome as a kid, I had a love-hate relationship with him. I liked the design, I loved the headmaster, but brown and beige? Really?

A Chromedome reissue with a lot more detailed paint apps (or SOME paint apps) to break up the plastic 'blocks' would do wonders

OK here goes, although this whole thread upsets me, because I thought there was actually going to be some new kind of Encore series and a year with no new G1 reissues is a sad thing indeed.

Mostly stuff I need, but a few choices are what I think would sell and/ or to complete obvious gaps left by the previous reissue lines:

1. Devastator
2. Refelctor - New Encore uniform anime accurate paint job (let e-hobby do original colours)
3. Artfire (Stepper on his own is annoying)
4. Blurr (Kup and Hot Rod but no Blurr - whats up with that?)
5. Swoop (anime accurate diaclone blue chest, natch)
6. Trypticon
7. Minibots set: Brawn, Cliffjumper, Seaspray, Beachcomber, Windcharger (I can take or leave Hubcap - but a Bumble - style redrawn Brawn face would be awesome. If we're dreaming Windcharger too)
8. Sunstreaker Mirage and Wheeljack 3-pack :-) (I know, I cheated a bit there)
9. Wreck Gar (E-Hobby Junkions, natch)
10. Cylonus and Scourge 2 pack (E-hobby Sweeps (recoloured Scourge 2-pack)

Honourable mentions: Gnaw, Superion, Scorponok, Fort Max, Grandus - I could go, but apparently Takara Tomy can't :-(

I like Matt's idea of the Headmaster heads, and then repainting as white versions.

I'd reissue all the Japanese raritites, with occasional repaints such as Black Shadow / Thunderwing etc.

As a bit of a change of pace, I'm thinking of Headmasters and Masterforce type stuff for Encore 2.0.

1. Chromedome (eHobby: Arcee prototype thing). As Matt's said, a few more details on Chromedome and also an Autobot logo at least somewhere on the robot mode!

2. Six-Shot (eHobby: Black version). Already done, I know. But he was a good bad guy.

3. Raiden Gift Set.

4. Artfire.

5. Scorponok (eHobby: Black Zarak... without the GPS!)

6. Minerva (eHobby: Nightbeat!)

7. Metalhawk (eHobby: Starscream colours... aha! A decent Pretender Classic!)

8. God Ginrai. Already done, I know. But this is saving TT some money ready for #10.

9. Darkwings Giftset (eHobby: Darkwing and Dreadwind.)

I'm a big fan of the white Hellbat and a red Gaihawk would tie the upper body together well if the hat was red, but would be a bit to similar to Gaihawk.

The other idea I like is to give a bit of a Turbomaster scheme. That Turbomaster off Blue for the hat and hands and upper arms. That would also mean the wings of both would be blue. I still keep Hellbat white but I'm not so sure about Gaihawk. If he stayed red to, then each figure would share a colour scheme with one of the 6 Turbomasters (Leozack and Drillhorn would need some tweaking to better match Thunder Clash and Scorch respectively). Blue stickers to go on the upper legs would finish the effect.

Some chap from TomyTakara has just been on the phone. From what I could gather, TT is going to release 5 Encore reissues later on in 2011. But he wants YOU to decide what they're going to be!

Due to budgetary contraints, there can only be certain types, so your choices are limited to what they can produce. The "gaps" are below, they just need to know which actual Transformers you want.

1. Special Team / Scramble City Combiner Set:

1. Special Team / Scramble City Combiner Set: Dinoking! Or if that is cheating, Computron! Both need love and are hard to complete on the secondary market, and haven't really got upteen KOs. Dinoking can also be repainted as Monstructor for e-hobby

2. Headmasters Vs Set (1 x Autobot and 1 x Decepticon, not Fortress Maximus or Scorponok): Nightbeat vs Fangry. Nightbeat can also get an e-hobby Minerva repaint. And Fangry is amazing.

3. Action Masters 5-Pack (Figures Only): Optimus Prime (for marketability) with the four AM Elites

4. Pretenders (either 3-Pack of originals, or 1 of a Mega Pretender): Either Thunderwing (with a Black Shadow repaint if possible) or a 3-pack of Metalhawk, Longtooth and Bludgeon. Or even Grand Max's shell, he he

5. City Playset (e.g. Metroplex, Scorponok, Fort Max, etc.): Black Zarak!
