Hmm. God Fire Convoy. I've got half of that. Used to have all of it (bar the God Fire Sword). Am I really tempted to buy a set where I'd have to rehome half of it fairly immediately? Hmmm.

It might not be a straight reissue, they often add a bit of extra value to the Encores with tampos and the like. The originals are prone to chrome flake and tyres ripping too.

Wonder if they'll pack in anything else with them?

I think both God Magnus and Super Fire Convoy had all their markings tampo'd on anyway didn't they? I don't remember them coming with stickers or anything.

But even so, I'd not be wanting to keep the Encore Super Fire Convoy - I've still got the one I imported back in the day and as the joint first toy I ever imported it has more value to me than a reissue so it would be the one I would keep.

If they are basing it on the original set rather than the single releases then we might get the God Sword, because at least some releases of the set had that in there I seem to recall. I could go me a God Sword. Sorry, let me spell that correctly. GOD-O! SWOOORRRRRDDDDD! *splits a Gundam Frame from head to toe* :-)

I have the RiD originals so I don't feel compelled to buy this, but the Prime, and Omega Prime are among my favourite TFs. Wonderful toys.

Would it tempt you if I pointed out that Super Fire Convoy doesn't have the extra Autobot/Cybertron logos, so that his vehicle mode is properly disguised? Nah, didn't think so :-)

(One of the things I loved about Car Robots was that Magnus was the only Cybertron wandering around with a team logo visible in his disguise. It felt like they were really going all out for paying off the Robots in Disguise theme with that line as far as the Cybertrons went. And it made a great character beat for God Magnus when you realise that he isn't even trying properly as far as the disguise goes because he just doesn't give a rivet - one of the things I find amusing about the Robots in Disguise line was how much they went around manically undoing all that by slapping big logos on everything...).

Still at the time it WAS really nice to get big tampographed AUTOBOT logos on stuff!!

Yes, tampographing! Which is why it is mad that Transformers 15 years later now sometimes have "!£"!£!" stickers instead of proper tampographing that was standard on toys over a decade ago.

Hasbro left me with the impression that the RiD Autobot molds were toast due to hasbro's and Takara's heavy use of them. Such as from the time when they said they were unusable.

So... I wonder if this is an entirely new tool reverse engineered from a production toy, ALA G1 Soundwave, if this is a heavy repair of the existing tools, or if they used it straight up with all the faults it will have, ala Predaking and Piranacon?

I assumed it was the Autobot bros that were unusable given how many times they broke the molds out

My friend thinks the mold(s) was pulled out to be the Year of the Dog prime next year, and Takara decided to reissue the original colors while it's out.

Gotta say, it's a very sound theory on what is otherwise a completely left field reissue.

I found mine while looking for something else today; chrome and tires are fine but the cab on Magnus is seriously yellowed. Not likely to drop £200 on replacing that though!

Er, yeah... Never mind. Not paying that much for something I only want half of! It wouldn't be the most I'd paid for a single boxed thing, but it would come very close to that all-time high.

Yeah, I can live with going after an Ultra Magnus to stand in for God Magnus instead I think.

Edit - not that I don't think "murf!" about it. I would have liked to have a nice shiny new God Magnus. Just not at that price.
