Oh yeah, I do totally get your point. I guess Universe Night Slash is just the best Beast Machines Cheetor we're likely to get.

Interesting! I thought Universe Cheetor was a repaint; I had no idea he had a different head. I'm almost tempted to track it down now. Thank goodness we were never inflicted with the Transtech Cheetor though. I miss Beast Machines sometimes. It managed to be mainstream and obscure at the same time, thanks to the TV show being a bit too serious for its target audience and only shown on Fox Kids in the UK. The Maximal toys are generally awful, but I remain a fan of (most) Vehicons that were released in this line. Actually, Nightscream isn't as bad as I remember. The toy is still too large and can't stand in robot mode, but the transformation is reasonably intuitive and has good quality plastic throughout. I'd like it more if it had a robot head instead of the dead-eyed, floppy-haired features of the TV character.

I like the Transtech Cheetor design a lot, but not as the intended evolution of BW Cheetor it was supposed to be.
I'd have liked it if it were Cybertron Cheetor, from the speed planet. Maybe he could have been a Beast Planet colonist who migrated and changed forms.

It's hard to be sure from the pictures but the Spark indicates it's a LOT bigger than a deluxe. Same size as the released Megabolt. Here's the cancelled proto with a proto of the released figure:

It reminded me of the bit in THE THING when that dude's head came off and turned into a spider creature.

Will we ever get a Megabolt Titan?
Play feature: fold out some bits and wear it as a mask.

I wouldn't say they're scarce, I see them for sell on Japanese site fairly regularly, not especially cheap though. I also remember seeing some of them in TRU when I was in Hong Kong in 2007.
