I am too. I am loving the MP line up but the prospect of a new mould to fit in among the cars is great. It's hard not to see a lot of similarity at the moment. Only one launcher in that silhouette though? Wheeljack has to have two!

Sigh. Promoting toys with blackout images is so 2010!
I am quite intrigued, however, to see this turns out.

He does indeed need two launchers. If he only comes with one, I'm sure the 3P world will fill the void- if a second has somewhere for it to be attached to.
Keep them MP Autobot '84 cars coming, TakaraTomyHasbrowhateveryou'recalledthesedays.

If that is MP Wheeljack, then I'm going to be very happy, 'cos that looks pretty good to me. Only one launcher though.

It does look very good, but I'm not immediately blown away by it as I was with the last two car moulds.

I want to know why the slit in the roof - does it pull apart then go back while transforming?

Maybe the rocket launcher folds inside the torso in car mode. That was my assumption.
The vehicle mode looks very close to the original. I always loved the way it looked. I don't know if they'll do a "Marlboro" variant (I'm sure Reprolabels are already making plans for that) but the only other option for the mould is Slicer and, if G2 Sideswipe is any indication, he may be on the cards, pink dune buggy and all.

I'm a bit dismayed the release for this is now end of August, with UK sellers saying they'll therefore have stock at the start of September. If this is the next Masterpiece figure with Bumblebee, Magnus and the fans vote ones to come after, are we already looking at 2015 for any further announcements?
After the range built up steam last year I was hoping for more frequent releases.

It does seem a long time for something this far advanced, but I imagine every factory at takaras disposal will be making movie toys till early summer.
Still we could get a masterpiece a month or two for the rest of the year.
And yes for slicer.

It looks a bit like a flask. Might explain why so many of his experiments are wired up wrong.
Yeah, I can live without this particular add-on.

Hrm, erm, yeah? I guess...? Compared to shoulder cannons, that's pretty weak!
Main figure available for pre-order at HLJ now BTW.

I do like the vehicle mode on it, as close as they can get in these more trademark-aware days to the original. I suspect that, like Prowl it is going to lack enough of a deco on it to make it work though - it really needs sponsor markings in my opinion.
There is one thing about the humanoid mode that bugs me though, and I know it isn't going to worry anyone else - he only has one missile launcher, as opposed to the original's two. Not a huge thing, and probably not a feeling that many people share, I just know that it would bug me.

I quite agree. He needs two missiles. That one is also too long, wheeljack's are the little stubby ones. I daresay if the launcher can affix to either shoulder that a third party correction kit will come out.
Is it August yet? Apart from the missiles that's a nice looking figure.

The launcher isn't bothering me, mostly because almost all my defining images of WJ are from the comics where he mostly wasn't drawn with them (a personal favourite: tfwiki.net/wiki/File:Wheeljack-housethatwheeljack.jpg). I think he looks potentially great and look forward to seeing him in glorious technicolour. Given Smokescreen's deco we might even hope for a few sponsor logos. -Jim

Nice. Going to have to get a Red Alert when Takara does their next run later this year. We're pretty much certain to get Slicer from Wheeljack, aren't we? -Nick I'm betting Marlboro before Slicer, who is still pretty obscure and a hard-sell colour scheme. Maybe Downshift too. And then in Prime colour scheme, if that is not too different. Also movie colour scheme.

Could well be as an exclusive of some sort, but it was interesting to read today on the news sites that an interview with the designer who did MP Wheeljack said that remoulds were not a consideration in choosing to do him based on excellent sales of the previous cars. Which would indicate Takara are happy for him to be a one off. Really? surely there'll be at least one reuse...
