I took the interview to mean they might have been discussions at one point of making a dual purpose mould like Generations Wheeljack and Tracks. Which is okay in classics but might have been a stretch with MP.
I'm sure there will be repaints, The formula seems to be G1 main line release followed by a Diaclone type release as an exclusive. So Marlboro will likely appear. After that any WJ related repaint is going to be obscure. But if G2 Sideswipe has sold well, that will likely encourage then towards a similar option in Slicer.
I'd quite like a nice green and black Cybertron Downshift repaint too.

I agree. I would assume that Slicer would have been more likely than G2 Sideswipe. But I also agree Marlbor is most likely.

An MP Slicer would be a lovely idea.

Yes I read that Pinwig and was surprised. Maybe they meant that whilst remolds weren't a consideration in the design, they're still going to do them. Which pleases me, 'cos it means they're taking the MPs designs very seriously.
Although I am OVER THE FREAKIN' MOON about Wheeljack, I am surprised they didn't do an obviously remoldable character first. Ratchet and Ironhide maybe. Get loads of repaints out of them.

Perhaps that the first three releases (Sideswipe & co, Prowl & co, Wheeljack & whoever) are sports cars and that next they might tackle something like Ratchet/Ironhide, Hound or Trailbreaker or the rumoured Bumblebee?

Interesting last question. Official combiners would put the cat among the pigeons. I wonder what is meant by pairs or rival characters. Not two packs I think, just releases that go together. Which bots/cons pair up as direct rivals? Blaster to go with Soundwave? Maybe in a way you could see Bumblebee and Starscream as a pair as they're the second string main characters.
Coo. Official combiners. Imagine that. Gift set style or individuals?

Combiners? Blimey! They'd be sold as individuals, surely. More Decepticons? No no, we need more Autobot cars now! Not sure about rivals though....

Perhaps combiners are inevitable; when it comes to cons if the MP line are sticking to early G1 then you've got those, cone heads, triple changers and insecticons before the movie toys. Or Shockwave I suppose. The choice for Autobots is still massive mind you.
If they are going to do cons and we don't get a new Megatron I'd like the Insecticons myself.

They *MUST* give us a new Megatron.

....... Or Shockwave I suppose...... But there already is a Masterpiece Shockwave! There is indeed but I'd buy a Takara one if they did one. He must be an option for them if they're sticking with the early years approach. Combiners seems like a big step for a line that issues very few new moulds each year.

Yes I agree. I'd be very surprised at any MP combiners.

Hmmm. Not sure about that robot mod at all. Seems overly lanky....everywhere!
But then these are magazine scans at an angle. Need to see clearer pics!

Why is there a pic of him from the rear with his head spun round? Odd. You don't think it's a hint at a remold/repaint do you? Nah....

Oh jeez. I can pretty much just get rid of my Classics/Generations collection now and just focus on MP.

Yes that's I've been thinking!
It'll take years though to get anywhere near a large collection at the rate they're releasing Autobot Cars. And I'll still keep my C.H.U.G. for the children to play with. No way they're playing with MPs!

Ooh. I just saw this linked from the Bumblebee thread and immediately thought the same - that Wheeljack is too slender. His G1 robot is much more boxy, even ape-like. The legs on the MP look too long now I see him all coloured up.

Hmmm. The proportions of the robot mode just scream 'wrong' at me in a way I cannot articulate or understand! The car mode is tops though. I like how the gun can sit on top so Wheeljack can shoot cyclists using pavements as he zooms down the road.

I've been looking at him all day, it's a true masterpiece. Right out of the cartoon, the comic, my mind! Just brilliant! Can't wait for him to be released. When's that again?
