Yes good spot re the heads, chumb. G1 toy Wheeljack always looked very roboty (in a good way), where your Prowls and Jazzes were more 'humanoid'. MP Wheeljack falls more into the more humanoid look. Perhaps a tad more 'alien-robot' would have suited the character of Wheeljack better. Still, as you say, no complaints. This MP is a big hit.

So how does this secret hidden head mode bit work? have you got to unscrew the back of the head to pull the front off or something?

Shockprowl is absolutely right you know, this is one of those figures that just makes you grin every time you look at it. I went digging this afternoon to find my G1 original just to stand next to him and it reminded me how the MP has taken lots of cues from the original with the transformation. The way the arms unfold is very similar.

I think you're right about Prowl being a better toy/cartoon hybrid. Compare the heads. Prowl looks refined and sophisticated. Wheeljack is very simplified and cartoony. Definitely not moaning though. Great toy. I think that's why Prowl is my favourite MP so far, It's the perfect hybrid, the silhouette is pure cartoon, but the detailing is all toy. Smokescreen on the other hand edges to far towards the cartoon and looks a little goofy and the Sideswipe mould comes across just a bit more toy influenced. Wheeljack will be a Christmas present I think, too busy and short of cash to be picking up just now, plus theres the 2 waves of generations deluxes I have to enjoy before then.

Not entirely sure any of that's necessary. He just needs a pair of black launchers and stubby missiles.

Finally got around to thinking about buying Wheeljack only to find Kapow and Masterforce have sold out. Where else is a good option? Which of the online stores are likely or at least might avoid customs?
Or do I just grab it from Toyspark on ebay?

So how does this secret hidden head mode bit work? have you got to unscrew the back of the head to pull the front off or something? I just happened to spot this on Youtube whilst researching MP Bumblebee. Was gonna post it, then spotted Pinwig's previous post about it. WHEELJACK'S GOT A SECRET FACE!!!!!!! www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=b73glYyQJawYou do indeed unscrew the back of his head. Problem is, he's left with a great massive freakin' hole in his forehead, but you can see the face. Why is it there? Why?! I... I just don't know how I feel about it!

If you don't have him, Sportsfans, GET HIM!
He may drift towards the 'Too much Sunbow not enough G1 Toy' side of the spectrum, but he's still spank your arse fantastic 'n'no mistake!

I already have him but don't have the box. This is pretty cheap. Hmmmmmm, buy him and have a dual mode display?

The interesting thing I’ve found with this kind of thing is how much my image of G1 bots comes from the toys. I’m glad they’ve done this for people that want it, but I prefer the original.

The robot mode isn't bad, but the vehicle mode just looks so empty. I mean, sure, it'll sell, and I'm glad that folks that like it can have it. But this isn't for me.
I do hope that if they get around to Jazz, he'll have the toy accurate deco in car mode.

Even as kid I understood that the on-screen/on-page representation was just an interpretation, the best they could do given the complexity of the toys and the medium they're being represented on. So it always felt like an approximation to me - hence why I'm not nearly as interested in these Anime++ editions. But cool if that is indeed your cyberjam.

Indeed. The imagination of children is much broader than an adults. An adult cares about how 'accurate' a toy is and how much articulation it has which is always more important than silly play features.
A child just wants a fun toy.
