Mine arrived from Amazon today and I've been able to celebrate finally owning a book with my name in it by reading through this mighty tome.
I don't think James stops by here anymore, but just in case and as I don't twitter: Mr Roberts I salute you!
Having learnt a bit more about the book's production at AA, I just find the work that goes into the production of these collections to be nothing short of staggering. Talk about a love letter. I'm glad that IDW have responded to James' commitment by upping the page count and giving the bonus material space to breathe.
Annoyingly, one page of my copy has been torn (it looks a very clean tear and both bits are there so I guess it might have happened during production) but that's hardly the end of the world.
For the record, my contribution was to have enough money to purchase a beautiful cover from Jeff Anderson and then scan it. Oh, my talents know no limits:)

I got my acknowledgement for pointing out to James who did a bit of art that he couldn't recognise. Andy

How far does V5 go up to?
And how many volumes more are there likely to be? Need to know how much this is going to cost before I start playing catch up.

I'm just reading the Richard Starkings section. But I does start of saying Richard & Geoff had left MUK then goes onto how he got there.

Some of the interviews should have been split with the next book. With Robin Smith talking alot about #200 so you can't just quickly flick to the issue without getting out the Titan tpb.

Just read Prime Bomb - I know this story does have issued with when its set - but its best to try & drop this in during that bit in the US run that feels like a void. Every time I read the issues after Prime returns to Prime scanning for Decepticons it feels like there is room for Prime bomb & Dreadwing down to take place. Dreadwing could of returned & met up with Scorponok [if you just cover over the Combaticons issue] then got back into space for #52. Unless you take it wity the stories happening while #51 is taking place.

Dunno why the book suggests that there is a continuity problem with 'Prime Bomb' on account of the Protectobots and Combaticons, as they were never killed off and didn't even appear in the Underbase saga.

I think James was mainly getting at if we looked at this being before Timewars - which is before Scor & co meet up with the Con's. in #208-210. I now some people state Timewars happens after Dark star - but it can't because Grimlock is killed in Darkstar but not in Timewars.

Martin I think the implication of The Underbase saga was almost everyone without Master technology was wiped out by Starscream and perhaps they were deemed to have been rendered non-functional off camera. There's a fanfic or two in there. Andy

Funny, I never assumed anyone who wasn't shown to have faced Starscream (e.g. Headmasters, Targetmasters, Powermasters, Protectobots, Combaticons, Stunticons, Constructicons) to have done so. Ratchet clearly didn't, and a few guys like Seaspray appear afterwards in the background, and Ratchet says in #56 that "thirty, maybe forty Autobots lie deactivated". Dinobots, Technobots, Throttlebots, Aerialbots, Jetfire, Blaster, Perceptor, Hound, Bluestreak, Mirage, Hoist, Brawn, Gears, Jazz, Omega Supreme and Prowl (retconned in Earthforce) makes 33. Could be a few that we didn't see (Wheeljack, Ironhide, Sunstreaker, Tracks for Earthforce, making 37?), I suppose, but not all the Autobots without Master or Pretender tech. Martin

You could add in anyone else seen reactivated by Grimlock using Energon in US75 The only one I can think of is Skids, who was in Limbo at the time of the Starscream massacre according to the UK comic. A complication arises in that some of the Autobots revived by Grimlock (or Galvatron's mind-bug) could have been deactivated in other battles. We know Seaspray survived the Underbase saga because I think he appears in #51, but by the time of 'The Greatest Gift of All' he's clearly been deactivated off-screen. Earthforce almost got its Decepticon supporting cast to match the Decepticons who were not deactivated by Starscream - e.g. Earthforce featured Ravage, Rumble, the Constructicons, the Stunticons, the Insecticons, but not Buzzsaw, Laserbeak, the Terrorcons and the Seacons, who Starscream trashed. If only Earthforce had featured the Combaticons instead of the Predacons, and Ramjet, Thrust and Dirge instead of the Triple Changers, it would have been spot on. Martin
