At the moment I am enjoying the hefty black and white collections Rebellion are putting out featuring Judge Dredd, Strontium Dog and Nemesis the Warlock.
With the latter two finishing next year I wonder if we will be treated to any further hefty collections - I'm hoping for some Ro-Busters and some early Slaine - just to admire the gorgeous Mick McMahon artwork.

The latest Brubaker Daredevil volume dropped onto the door mat yesterday. Just ordered a load of recent stuff in trades having ebayed the issues away. I may have to start trimming the trades shelf for space ! March Marvel TPBs are up at Amazon. The *FINAL* Thor volume. I'll have those issues on eBay tonight then.

I've been reading the 2nd volume of Deaths Head (signed by Simon Furman, though I should add that I bought it from the large stockpile that are in FPL). I found most of the stories in the first volume to be a bit silly and the first half of the 2nd volume continues the trend. Fortunately, the Body in Question and What-If storylines show a return to the original notion of Death's Head as the hunter. Sadly his appearance in The Fantastic Four and She-Hulk only illustrate the cringe-worthy storylines that occured during the mid-90s. The Fantastic Four storyline makes little sense in isolation and She-Hulk is merely a short-tempered solicitor, who happens to be green. It's great to see these brief appearance in the complete Death's Head, but blimey they're dull.
Does anyone know if there are plans to release a paperback of the Death's Head II stories? I'd be interested to see how Death's Head dies and is re-interpreted.

I've got the DHII LS somewhere. Must get it on eBays altar at some pt.
One of my TPB grails is en route to me - X-Men vs Avengers ! Been wanting a copy of that for years. Got a soft spot for all the X-Men LS at around the UXM 220 mark.

A little help: Does the Punisher War Journal Civil War TPB have the 4th issue in it - the Stiltman's wake ?

According to CBR it does indeed collect the first four issues of the series so it will have the Stilt Man wake in it.

Thanks to recent eBaying I've been able to buy a few TPBs of recent.
Daredevil: Hell to Pay V1 is typical Brubaker fare - excellent stuff. Loved everything I've read by him with the exception of his X-Men stuff which feels a little shy of the mark still.
House of M: Both better in a TPB and worse. Feels like one long story, but some bits feel rushed. If Emma sorted out Stark's head (half way through 5) why doesn't he end up with them at Genosha ?
Also bought: Civil War, CW:Wolverine, X Men Deadly Genesis. CW: Frontline (1 & 2) on the way, loads of stuff ordered.
My long sort after copy of X-Men Avengers arrived yesterday. Nothing remarkable about it storywise but I remembered it well as a kid and loved the Silvestri Super Soldies. Hasn't stood the test of time well.

At the moment I'm delving into ESSENTIAL LUKE CAGE: POWER MAN and being amazed by how much jive those evil-doer turkeys talk. Luke Cage is a fantastic slice of history - it wears its blaxploitation credentials on a shiny chain around its next. Rather like the comics equivalent of "Shaft" in that regard I guess. Karl

I struggled to read the Luke Cage volumes. It's not till Iron Fist shows up that the title gets good for me,.

Trust me, you really don't need it. Front back and side drawings on one page, stats, abrieviated history with list of important appearances on the other. Esily the worst of the MU editions

Esily the worst of the MU editions Is that not the version that evolved from the model sheets that Marvel had compiled to distribute to artists. The illustrations certainly have a very "model sheet" vibe to them. Karl

Could well be. I know not the origins of it. It's very poor from a text based reading pt of view.

Could well be. I know not the origins of it. It's very poor from a text based reading pt of view. Agreed - I had a few volumes back in the day and it is absolutely woeful. I suppose if it were all collected together it could be used as a doorstop. Wouldn't rate it as having much else in the way of use. Karl

Looks like I will be able to resist then. Does anyone know if the current handbooks are continuing into 2008? Other than Atlas #2 in March.

Imortal Iron Fist V1 showed up.
Oooh, it's good squishy. Adds quite a bit to to the Iron Fist back story that we didn't already know which can seem somewhat odd, but the way the comic is done is great. Recomended.
