Hulk visionaries Byrne?! I question the wisdom of that his Hulk runs were pretty uninspired in my opinion.

You'd need more than one volume and I'd certainly welcome it, maybe they will do that when they finish the PAD run of Hulk books.

Andy This is the post Alpha Flight stuff and IIRC short (314 - 319) However a single largeish volume would cover 320-330 and bridge the gap to the first PAD volume. There's also a Deadpool classic volume on the way - nhopefully containing the first LS

I remember a weird one where the Hulk was in some kind of void and there was this multicoloured twisty turny road that went in all sorts of strange directions that he was walking on.

Interesting news about Cable, but not as essential. And hardly an exhaustive representation of the character's appearances up to that time, anyway.

No. There's the Cable/NM trade (in print ?) Extinction Agenda (again ?) and Days of Future Present (long out of print !) I'm not sure NM 98-100 have ever been traded.
That LS is good - JRjr art. The first few issues of the Cable series are great too, good art with a story set in the future.

The first issues of Cable are set after the first 16 issues of X-Force, too. Issues 99-100 of New Mutants have been reprinted loads of times, most recently in a Shatterstar trade. Issue 98 not as much, if ever. Issue 87 has been reprinted hundreds of times!

98 has a reprint coming up though - see 4 posts up. Point me at this Shatterstar trade, I may need to get it to jettison those last high numbered NM issues as a lot.

It's right 87 has been reprinted. New Mutants was a big huge mess at the time. Liefield and the Cable character really breathed life into the title. I was there, I know. What happened after that though ..... we get an entire issues storyline just dropped - big jump from the end of 91 to the start of 93 (thee's a fill in issue as 92) and a very abrupt opening to 93 which makes you think they'd plotted a proper issue 92. Then Liefield's contributions to Extinction Agenda are either badly inked. sporadic or non existant. Fortunately those last 3 issues are good.

Shatterstar trade here Phil! Trade Paperback List say that NM98 hasn't been reprinted in trade format before, so I guess it makes sense to put it in the Deadpool trade. Which I really hope they continue with, Deadpool back issues are damn hard to get, and the good stuff is really after what they're putting in that first trade.

is 99 the whole issue and not just a reprint of the final frame ?

Post by jameso on Dec 17, 2007 14:07:57 GMT
Yeah, actually, I think it is just the last page of 99.
Isn't there a somewhat recent Cable trade with the last issues of New Mutants and early X-Force stuff?

According to my new favorite site (Thanks James) tplist.millarworld.net/xmen.html#newmutants the Cable 2nd Genesis volume has both of these and X-Factor 1. I now need a copy of this. I don't suppose a certain Charring Cross Rd based comic shop could supply me with one ?

Re: James O about recent Cable trade: not that I know of.
Phil, no we don't have it at the moment, but I shall keep an eye out. Also, remind me to look at those PM/IF and Rom back issues, I forget by the time I get to work.

Essentials 8 is rather good, I don't have fond meories of what I expected was within. But the Leonardi fill in art is much better than I thought in my teens now it's reproduced in B&W and as a bonus there's X-Men Annual 12 with some blinding Art Adams wiork that looks soooo beautiful without colour - check out the big splash page of Terminus. As a bonus it doevtails nicely with the end of the last X-Factor essential.
Get it.
