Was I imagining that there was an Inferno Crossovers trade coming ? No

Cool, I'll pick up that X-Factor one at some point.
Don't think I'll bother with that Inferno thing, but it does seem pretty comprehensive.

and long overdue.
We might even eventually get a Fall of the Mutants trade with the Daredevil and Powerpack issues Come to think of it there's a DD issue missing from Mutant Massacre too.

Maybe, the Magus is apparently returning as part of the Realm of Kings storyline so chances are he will show up as well.

Hooray!
In other news, today I read Death of Captain America Vol 3: The Man Who Bought America. Hmmm, have to say I thought this was by far the weakest of the Brubaker run so far. Rather obvious plotline for much of it and the climax was a confused mess. I have no idea what the heck was going on with the Red Skull and Sharon in his base at the end with all the flashing whirly lights and obscure dialogue. There's being esoteric and there's just being plain baffling. Disappointing.

It's been a bit quiet on the Trades front here so my attention has turned to Essentials I don't own. As well as the Dazzlers that I didn't own I've also secured a copy of Essential Nova for ÂŁ5.39 new from playtrade inc postage !

Essential Dazzler 2 has crashed onto the door mat - unfortunately ahead of Essential Dazzler 1. My this is a thick trade, youcould do someone a real injury with it. In addition to the actual Dazzler issues there's the Dazzler: The Movie graphic novel, Beauty & The Beast limited series and Secret Wars II issue 4 - which has real superheroes in so is thus a better than average issue of that LS.
But how good is the trade ? We'll have to wait till I've survived v1 to find out !

Surely the shipping from the US wil more than make up for the saving though!

Cable & Deadpool Ultimate Collection Volume 1: I've not finished this yet but .... When I read Fabian Nicieza's 90s work I wasn't keen on it. However long term readers will know I loved his 2000's Thunderbolts and was gutted with the Ellis revamp. I'd read a couple of C&D issues - 1, 3 & 4 but the lack of 2 meant I didn't continue with the title. I bought the Civil War issues and found them rather good and did think about the trades then..... This volume - issues 1-18 of C&D - purrs like a well oiled car. It just works, reads very well, and with decent art. Buy it. What you need further incemtive ? OK then: In Issue 15 we discover that Deadpool cried when Manimal was cancelled. There, that's one sale guarenteed! Amazon have Volume 1 in stock while Volume 2 (19-35) has just come up for pre order. * though I've just discovered he wrote Alpha Flight 87-101 which is a real decent run, especially 87-90 which is the best the title was post Byrne/Mantlo. And brought Guardian back.

Surely the shipping from the US wil more than make up for the saving though! Not if you're buying a big pile. Though now America has woken up and the 'Amazon are selling big HC trades for $15' has swept the net. The comics community at large are currently doing a run on Amazon. Things could get ugly, I suspect! -Ralph

Cable & Deadpool Ultimate Collection Volume 1 It wasn't till I put the book back on the shelf that I noticed the names of the title characters had been swapped from the original order of Cable & Deadpool. Compare Issue 5's cover with the same picture used as the trade cover at AmazonOne of the letters pages reproduced within (yes the letters pages are in this volume) even makes a joke about that it should be the other way to Cable & Deadpool

Immortal Weapons: Collects the 5 part LS spun off from Iron Fist. 1 story for each of the 5 Immortal Weapons - Fat Cobra, Bride of Nine Spiders, Dog Brother #1, Tiger's Beautiful Daughter Bride & Prince of Orphans. Three are origin stories - Fat Cobra, Dog Brother and Tiger's Beautiful Daughter - are origin stories. Bride's story is .... well a bit odd while Prince of Orphans - whom we already know much about - is the only modern story. Tying the volume together is an Iron Fist tale which was serialised over all 5 issues. OK volume, but nothing special, certainly not by the standards of the Brubaker/Fraction issues.

Batman: The Black Casebook.
A compilation of the 50's/60's sci-fi Batman stories that inspired much of Grant Morrison's RIP storyline. Cracking fun indeed.
