But other than that taking me out the story complaint Thanos Rebirth is a fine volume.

I am looking at the pile of Essentials and they will have to go during the upcoming Great Purge. They just take up too much room.

The Infinity Gaunlet Mad mad everyone tries to beat up on Thanos story. I'm just sad the ending has been eroded by sequels over the years because I like the thought of Thanos sitting there on the steps of his farm house.

Avengers West Coast: Lost in Space-Time continues the wonderful Englehart / Milgrom run and includes reprints of issues of FF and Dr Strange which intersect with the WCA's time travel adventures in Rama-Tut's Egypt. Like every volume so far it's full of mad ideas, energy, humour and drama. Everyone gets something to do and the characters are well delineated. Just brilliant comics.
Milgrom is just on layouts at this point and a variety of finishers makes the art a little uneven, but it's still good stuff. The Marshall Rogers art on Dr Strange is great work as well. A plug for the then forthcoming Englehart / Rogers Silver Surfer is left on one of the pages next to the next issue blurb - I'd love to see that get a nice, colour collection like these.

I'm just sad the ending has been eroded by sequels over the years because I like the thought of Thanos sitting there on the steps of his farm house. To this day the best Big Marvel Event I can think of. The core miniseries stands on its own, but can be nicely augmented especially with the Silver Surfer lead and tie-ins. None of the cross-over issues I read were terrible. And I don't find myself pondering lots of ways it could have been better, which is basically all other cross-overs for me. The Surfer missing the gauntlet is still a hair-on-end moment, and I also like Thanos the farmer. I seem to remember the first 12 - 18 issues or so of Infinity Watch didn't disgrace themselves, but it's been an awful long time since I read them.

I'd agree, definitely Marvel's best Event book.
Warlock and the Infinity Watch was a pretty good book, the wheels fall off when Jim Starlin leaves. An interesting book, when the lead protagonist is neither good nor evil, due to having purged themselves of those qualities. Also the "love" story was pretty interesting as well.

Loved Infinity Watch, but then I loved all the Infinity series even the sadly overlooked Infinity Abyss and Marvel: The End (which was an Infinity series in all but name).

Essential Web Of Spiderman v2 has just been rescued from the sorting office. I think we had some concerns about Kraven's Last Hunt following the silly recolouring and some awful repro of material in recent X-Men volumes.....
Needn't have worried: It looks superb in B&W, decent repro.

I'm a little disappointed, but it's had a good run and put some interesting things in print in a decent format that they might not otherwise have got.
I'm happy to have that first Hawkeye mini + all the WCA collections, the two GotG volumes, Rebirth of Thanos and Infinity Gauntlet, the Waid Cap run, the Stern / Byrne Cap run... it's a good line-up with a few interesting oddities.
As you say, trades are cheaper so I'm not going to be too cut up as long as they continue to collect the kind of thing they have been doing.

The problem with the WCA is it's one or two trades short of linking up with the Byrne run trades! It's bothered me enough that half are tpbs and half are HCs already!
I've got
Contest of Champions Kitty Pryde & Wolverine (why this hadn't been reprinted before I'll never know) Magik (ditto) Iron Monger 5 WCA volumes Under Siege 3 Liefield New Mutants/Xforce volumes Iceman - OK, but the LS wasn't anything special. Know Burns loves it. Does reprint the Iceman story from Bizzare Adventures 27 which is one of my favourite stories EVER
I didn't get Hawkeye cos I've got the original trade from the 80s. Rebirth of Thanos, Infinity Gaunlet & Stern/Byrne cap have been TPB'd....
It's a shame they didn't get further cos there's some 80s LS out there still unreprinted: Falcon, Sub Mariner and Nightcrawler.... In fact I think Nightcrawler is the only 80s X-Men series not reprinted yet! (also the perfect home for the Nightcrawler strip from Bizarre Adventures 27, the only one of the three strips from there not out yet)

I have many of the same volumes as you, and agree it's nice to get some of the less obvious things collected in HC - Longshot was great, as was Kitty Pryde and Wolverine and I'm looking forward to Iceman.
I was hoping for another Doctor Strange volume which could incorporate Triumph and Torment as I long-since lost my original copy of that. Looking forward to Nothing Can Stop the Juggernaut still though.
What irks me now is that they've cancelled it just after altering the spine design to have the red and white Marvel logo - one of the things I liked was how they lined up neatly on a bookshelf.

Longshot also had a trade back in the day, I've got that too!
Oooh, I think my gorgeous Asgardian Wars hc is in this series as well.

If this is the wrong thread, I give the Mighty God Mods freeness to move this post. I will not get sexual pleasure out of the moving of my post, at all. No way, no how.
Superman All Stars.
WOW.
Freakin' took it outa the Library, and freakin' read both vols in a day. (Well one day, and a morning poo, but who's counting?)
My question: is there more?
MORE?!!!

Also, been getting caught up- as I do- on my Marvel stuff, and I've read Ultimates (mainly) by Hickman, 'The Republic is Burning' storyline. Love it! Reed Richards a baddie! Freakin' freakarama! I then purchoosled Ultimate Doom, and got up to speed. I really love this story-line! This is the kinda thing the 'Ultimate' universe does so well -when it's got a good writer behind it' doing the 'impossible' (ie making Reed Richards a Super-Baddie!).

One tag in square brackets at the start of the spoilered text, the other at the end. If you're using the button for it highlight all the text you want to spoiler The Sentry is Dead. Prowl is rubbish! Edit the post and see how I did it.

Almost all of my trades have been given away, charity shopped or recycled now, within the last couple of months. They just take up too much space when digital versions are available and Edinburger has a decent library network.
