Grabbed the three Alan Moore and Kevin O'Neill "Nemo" hardcovers.
Quickly read them, will do a proper read this evening, although bizarrely he does have a Watchmen reference in the last one where Janni is taking tablets as she has cancer, made from peach pits that do not work. I did not see that coming, just a small moment but it popped out.

I don't know if there's a problem somewhere up the line with how Amazon Marketplace items are listed but recently a number of sellers have listed items for sale with incorrect publishing dates in the future which are disrupting Amazon searches by date. See this one for Marvel epic Collections or this one for Judge Dredd books or this one for IDW TransformersYou have to go to the second or third page before you start to come across genuinely new items you might want to preorder! Incompetence? A genuine mistake entering the data, which would seem possible from the garbled titles? Or an unscrupulous seller trying to get their overpriced listings first in a search? Either way it's a pain in the backside! What's worse is the items are duplicates for existing items elsewhere. <and breathes out> Sorry. Annoyed & Inconveinced!

Having consumed Uncanny X-Men circa #150 to #200 in lovely pocketbook form, and having already acquired the Jim Lee era of X-Men in giant-sized hardbacks, I wait for the pocketbooks to bridge the mutant story gap between those two periods. In the meantime I am bridging the gap via a different route by way of New Mutants Classic reprints, which I am finding to be surprisingly enjoyable reads.
On the Avengers front, looking forward to dipping my toes into the waters of West Coast with two pocketbooks due to be released this year, 'Vision Quest' (April) and 'Darker Than Scarlet' (September). September will also apparently see the pocketbooks 'The Astonishing Ant-Man: Origins' and 'Doctor Strange: The Montesi Formula'.

New Mutants under Claremont was a VERY good comic at times. How far have you got?
I like those West Coast Avengers volumes, both good stories, but I don't think the Vision has ever really recovered from what happens to him in it. If you've not read them it might be worth tracking down both Vision & Scarlet Witch volumes before you read this.

New Mutants under Claremont was a VERY good comic at times. How far have you got? The X-Men pocketbooks that have been released to date (which include New Mutants #13-17) stop with issue #200 around Secret Wars II, and that's about where the still obtainable volumes of New Mutants Classic start. Picked up NM #26-61 in trades, the last several of those being in Fall of the Mutants Volume 1. Don't care much for Bill Sienkiewicz, but he stops at #31. I like seeing Magneto trying his best as headmaster. Martin

Ghosts and Mutant Massacre cover the next 14 issues of X-Men.
Bill S is an aquired taste, I hated him as a youngster.
Can loan you the earlier ones if you want

Still hasn't been revealed yet.
I suspect that will be held in play until the time comes for Thor to reclaim Mjolnir.

The new Thor has been an enjoyable book after the first issue false step.

A lot better than the £30 FPE want for it! Tempted by this one. I have a deep love of the stories within.
The trade of the Secret Wars activity books is in release. Andu has been given his orders. I need 2 copies. One for the shelf and one to use. It has the proper paper stock for the colouring-in pages and loads of stickers!!!

I can see a £20 on eBay. Wait for the Wordery order, they're usually cheapest.

Received the new X-Men and Avengers WC pocketbooks. The X book has a higher page count than advertised on Amazon which makes me happy because it therefore rounds out the Secret Wars II crossover issues by including #201-203 as well as the Art Adams specials.

HICKMAN'S FANTASTIC FOUR AND FF. Catching up. Read some of it a coupla years ago, but stopped, can't remember why. And I REALLY can't remember why 'cos it's FREAKIN' BRILLIANT (I honestly can't remember why I didn't follow this on, what was I thinking? When is this from? Where babies being born or something?) 'Bout half way through-ish. Just read Fantastic Four vol 4 (I'm reading in trade paperbacks). {Spoiler}Johnny has just....
...when he and Ben touched hands across the Negative Zone barrier... ...Ben with Thor and Hulk... ...then when Spiderman talks to Franklin... ...I've heard that Johnny eventually comes back n'all, but still...
...I'm quite emotional! I- I can't talk anymore*

Out of interest (due to their excelent X-Force run) I had a look at the prices for Kyle/Yost's New X-Men trades..... Find a copy of v2. Go on ..... Amazon UKAmazon USEBay.comAlong with the Cable/Deadpool series a prime candidate for some Ultrimate Collections FINALLY I own all of the Kyle/Yost New X-Men in TPB form. An As New copy of v2 dropped through the door just now which I paid £15 for. Seriously underatted series urgently needs recollecting at sane prices.

So I just read volume one of the recent collected edition of Guardians of the Galaxy (2008). Didn't understand a word of it. Do I need to read all of Annihilation just to make sense of what the hell was happening? Or am I opening a can of worms here that isn't worth bothering with?

It's not really Annihilation you'll need, but the sequel Annihilation Conquest which sets up the the current status quo in terms of Marvel's cosmic. Andy

Aha, right. Doesn't seem to be easily available in print. I see there's an upcoming 800 page omnibus for it; I might see if that becomes available eventually for a sensible price but I'm not interested enough to spend £60 on a pre-order!

That's up to the end of Inferno, a good place to stop. marvel.wikia.com/New_Mutants_Vol_1Although Inferno is a crossover the New Mutants story is effectively an independant strand that you don't NEED to read the X-Men/X-Factor issues to enjoy. The Asgard stuff that follows is poor. I'd say pick it up again from 86, which from there to the end is in the X-Force trades, but I suspect you might not click with it as much as Andu and I do. How are the first three volumes going for you?

How are the first three volumes going for you? Let me get back to you on that after the bank holiday, OK? Martin - who read an X-Men comic many years ago in which Colossus' little sister died and only now realises why this was such a big deal to the fans...

Axis showed up a few months back. Good read, just about worth the money, but already largely forgotten. Spiderverse showed up last Saturday and it's fantastic. Finished the main story and am now on the Tales from the Spiderverse short story bit which is pure joy.

Martin - who read an X-Men comic many years ago in which Colossus' little sister died and only now realises why this was such a big deal to the fans... Thinking about it I probably aught to have sent Magik for you to read too or has that been in one of the X-Men pocketbooks? The background is thoroughly gone over in Magik's introductory issue of the New Mutants (14, which is in the trades I lent you)

Got the Magik mini-series in a cheap trade, got the relevant issues of Uncanny and New Mutants #13-17 in the X-Men pocketbooks. Got her story now from start to finish. Just got NM #1-12 to read now.
