The Machine Man Complete Collection remains to be read. It was a TFUK backup strip so you must buy it too. No chance! it was complete crap!

Ditko MM that was in TFUK was poop. BWS Mm that was printed twice was great. I have not seen the Kirby stuff but he is King.
I am now conflicted about this volume especially as with BWS missing it is not 'complete'!

BWS MM was in the Iron Man 2020 trade a year or so back which had several other TFUK backup strips in.

Thinking about it, Machine Man 2020 was good. The second strip TF UK printed.

Correct! It was also the return of BWS to comics after several years away.
That's why Herb Trimpe does the layouts for the first few issues.

Worth picking up.
The latest Marvels Mightiest Heroes is out - Captain Britain.
It contains the first two issues of Captain Britain weekly, the 2 part Marvel Team up with Spider-Man has a double paged spread done on one side of a page and then the other. Has the first four issues of Captain Britain and MI-13, which has an error with the lettering in one of the later parts.
Shame, a neat wee package, bollocksed up.

Marvel's Mightiest Heroes latest book collects Shockprowl's favourite - The Sentry.
Best of it is, they collect the original mini-series and specials.
You know, the good stuff.

My library in Falkirk has done me proud, just last week I was in there and I saw that they had the whole of the Brubaker/Epting spy series "Velvet". I'd enjoyed the first issue when I got it as a freebie from Comixology a year or so back, and always wanted to read more - so seeing that all three trades of the series were sitting there I grabbed them.
Well worth it. A really good set-up - the secretary of the director of a super-secret, above-the-law espionage agency finds herself framed as a traitor and on the run, fortunately she wasn't always a secretary and only the skills she used as an agent before circumstances can keep her alive and help her clear her name... It is a lovely wrinkle on the "framed agent" set-up, and allows the series to be a bit playful with the "spy thriller" tropes. The present day stuff is all narrow escapes, betrayals and double-dealing, whilst the flashbacks we get to the lead characters heyday as an agent show the 1950's and 1960's as a time of two-fisted, guns-blazing, cool-gadget wielding super-spies. There is a definite feeling that "if the past was a James Bond life of Goodies and Baddies, then the present is very much the cynical, distrustful world a la George Smiley". Not that this stops our heroine from having an action sequence on top of a moving train or anything mind you! It has a lot of the elan that Brubaker and Epting have previously shown on Captain America but with a stronger "in the shadows" kind of tone.
Fantastic stuff. It has gone onto my list to acquire once I have completed my "Queen and Country" collection in due course.

The famine that I was experiencing a few weeks back has turned into feast. Here's what the Trade "To Read" pile looks like: She Hulk: The Return (Byrne's second stint on the title, which reminded me I hadn't got...) Complete Dan Slott She Hullk v1 & 2 (which I finally found both at a sensible price) X-Men Epic Collection v2 Complete X-23 v2 Ultimates (Al Ewing v2) X-Men Bishop's Crossing Plus somewhere in the post to me are X-Men: Inferno Crossovers X-Men: X-Cutioner's Song

A local book shop is closing tomorrow, I went in earlier to everything £1 or fill a carrier bag for £10. They have had a pretty decent graphic novel collection for the last few years, most were now gone but from 3 decent sized cardboard boxes I picked up 33 books. May not all be great but theres a couple of Hickman Fantastic Four volumes I wanted and a couple of volumes of Gen X which moe tha justify the £10.
