Also curiosity, I enjoy Castle so have always been a little curious about the novels and even more so about the comic. My old flatmate tried to get me to read the Blake books. I gave them a shot because she also introduced me to Harry Potter and a few other good series. From an indifferent start I grew to really hate them. But again curious about comic form.
I did manage to ignore the various movie adaptations and prequels to Thor and Ironman.

Eh, The early Anita Blake stuff is mediorce but not actually terrible. The first four or five were basically pastiche private detective dramas with a setting where Vampires and Werewolves were out of the closet. Then the whole "supernatural creature porn" genre began to become a thing and Hamilton discovered that this was a vastly more profitable thing to be writing - and thus the books from that point onwards are absolutely horrible. Of course, by this point there are far more of the latter category so that statistically you are more likely to encounter one of the dreadful porn books than the mediocre pastiche ones.
The "Richard Castle" books are...not good, but if you know the US crime/thriller fiction scene they serve as decent unintentional parody...

Yeah that pretty much sums it up. I read them in order, I dont know for how long and they got steadily worse and worse even before the pornographic parts started to take over.

Oh, nice! There are some cracking stories in there. I still have very fond memories of things like the Nightcrawler story set around the hospital, and the silent Jean/Scott story, amongst others.

It isn't and you know it in your heart.
Acceptable: shiny shiny covers, X-Men #1-3, Excaliber up to 60-odds. Not acceptable: everything else.

Not until it came back after the Madrox mini. -Ralph Piss off!! X-factor issue 87 alone is a stone-cold classic. It is. However I struggled with some of the rest at the time. Wasn' quite what I was expecting. I've read a bit recently, think I have up to 87, and enjoyed that. Probably needs Epic Collecting for re-appraisal - but since it has been traded already as the X-Factor Visionaries that I missed I feel the Portacio run needs doing first which has never been properly, or completely, colour traded.

Charity shop has some vols of Charley's war at £2 each, is it something I'd like? As no-one was there to advise me in my hour of need, I went for it. They had vols 1-9. Apparently there are 10, but such is life!
