The Sandman Mystery Theatre Compendium One ordered from Books Etc for *half price* last night. This is my third compendium, and I think I've only ever read the first issue or storyline before so I'm looking forward to it.

The collection of Fireball XL5 strips from TV Century 21 has been a very pleasant surprise. Good tosh yarns. Actually better than the show. Wonderfully dynamic bright painted art from Mike Noble (what a revelation) and a harder edge than on telly. Lots of violence, killing and death! If Steve Zodiac needs to kill: he does!
Has a Hampson era Dan Dare feel to it at times. Owes more to that lineage than the TV show that spawned it.

Phil bought THREE books at 1am this morning: 2 Epics plus a standard trade for something he bought the issues of at the time but never got the trade: what else did I buy?

I would go for 'a general feeling of tiredness and wishing I hadn't been up so late'.

Ordered!!!
A reprint of the Omnibus (which I regret shifting) will now be announced.
Actually, not out of the question as they could include the ROM issue now.

Gav pointed me in the direction of the shittest comic of the modern era - Alice Cooper from Dynamite.

If you avail yourself of certain yarr websites you can read it all.
Alice vs Lucifer. the devil himself battling for souls through music. FUCKING DREADFUL.

Essential Marvel Saga 1 and 2 on the way. This of course means a new colour edition will be announced tomorrow.
2024's collector focus looks like building up my Marvel library after so much was lost due to house moves/life issues.
More Treasury of British Comics and 2000ad collections too.
Cutting back on Transformers has benefits!

I had most of the Essentials line back in the day. Love that old stuff in black and white in big chunky books. Then it was all lost in a garage incident (penetrating damp).
There are some I would like to reacquire but are now surprisingly expensive. I would have thought the Epic and Omnibus formats would have rendered them redundant for many people.
All I have at the moment (until the Saga volumes arrive) is a copy of Captain America volume 2 found cheap in decent nick in an antiques shop on my honeymoon!

Certain comics look as good in B&W, as the modern reprints do the material no favours. Cosmic Jim's Warlock run is stunning in monochrome.

Cheap reading copies of Essential Marvel Saga secured. Not actually read this before. Back in the day it didn't interest me but I have more of a taste for odd stuff like this now.

I know the current ASM run has been getting mixed reviews but I am enjoyed the two Panini fauxomnibi, especially as the second had the debut of Rek-Rap.

Bought Essential Classic X-Men 1-3 off Ebay. The seller asked if it would be ok to send them in one package. I said: "sure!".
I now see that Volume 1 is coming via Royal Mail, Volume 2 via Yodel and Volume 3 via Evri. Well, um, ok. Makes it more exciting, I guess.
