Given how expensive the reissues have been I dread to think of the prices, though maybe that's why they nixed it. Maybe that plantinum Astrotrain/ Blitwing set in wild colours was a bit of a test for that idea before putting more resources into it |

As I've said before, I'd be very down with retooling various combiner parts to make a G1 Victorion and Megatronia. While I'm not sure about retooling existing molds, I don't think many would work for such visually distinct characters like Bulkhead and Lockdown, and it may push them into the ballpark price range where they may as well go ahead and design new molds from scratch. Going that route, I do think it would be really interesting to reimagine newer characters like Drift, as being from specific eras of G1 engineering and design. Drift as an 84/85 diaclone mold Autobot (complete with the "original diaclone" black Deadlock deco). Bulkhead as either a regular or "small" headmaster (he fits in with the general theme that nightbeat, hosehead, and siren have). Lugnut to compliment Whirl and Roadbuster. Go ahead and give us Shatter and Dropkick in the decepticon triplechangers. |
