Avengers 31:

So Elektra's revealed to have been a Skrull. For how long ? (possible long enough to make Frank Miller happy enough to write for Marvel again ?)

And if Elektra - current big cheese in the Japanese Underworld - is then who else is ? Lots of people have been acting odd of late.

Remember the first Illuminati issue ? Kree/Skrull war that ends with the Skrulls swearing vengance against the Illuminati.

World War Hulk 1:

Iron Man: "Everything I'll EVER do I do to protect this world"
"I will protect you.... No Matter what it takes"

So what's Tony known about a threat to Earth ? You assume it's the Skrulls. And if so how ?

Back to NA31:

The Cage/Jones baby looks a bit off at the end. There's been a big fuss about baby milk in these issues, from Luke trying to buy it and the breast feeding comments at the start of this issue. We know the baby was OK in the last issue as it was shown as pure during the spell. So is the Milk the baby drinking the Skrull cow Milk ? (see FF issues, one of which is an Annual in the Byrne Visionaries)

Hmmmm. It does look like the potential is there to use this as a get-out clause for some of the absolute screw-ups they have done over the past few years. Quite how well received it will be remains to be seen. It wasn't popular when the X-books did it during The Twelve saga.

Phil, is it in the Bryne Visionaries? If so, I've read it, but can't really recall it. Latest (and last, I think) Bryne book was out this week, incidentally.

Andy's hit it for me really, it just feels like a potential get out clause for the poorly executed recent storylines. I mean, Iron Man is blatantly going to be revealed to either be a Skrull, or be in cohorts with the Skrulls, or acting like a bad ass so the heroes are 'ready' to fight the Skrulls when they invade. Anything like that kind of invalidates the purpose, of what there was, of Civil War.
That, as well as the redundancy of the storyline already being done with Wolverine fairly recently which I mentioned earlier leaves me sceptical.

Oh, and the previous 'it was a Skrull' retcon in F4 with Johnny Storm and Thing's girlfriend being married but then she was a Skrull... No!

Having said that, as I read New Avengers in the trades I am a bit behind on the issues, maybe what ever happens to Elektra will have more impact in context.

Yup.it's the Byrne Visionaries. My copy is ordered from Amazon so won't see it till start of July, but there's some good stuff in it. Skrulls for a start....

I think there's different ways of reading the issue - if he's an Inhuman why didn't Black Bolt know who he was ? So eoither he's not an Inhuman and something else is going on *or* he's an Inhuman and Black Bolt's a Skrull.

I read it and it just didn't make sense which made me think something else is going on here.

I didn't mind the irregular nature of this as each issue was effectively a 1 shot. Having the last issue now is good timing.

Having said that when I get 5 while I'm in town next week it'll be the set on eBay shortly after.

The scheduling wouldn't have been a problem if they'd released them as a series of specials but as a limited series, well it just doesn't work to have such a half-assed schedule, still it pales when compared to that Kevin Smith Daredevil mini or Ultimate Hulk vs Wolverine.

The original schedule for the mini was a bit silly, was never solicited as a monthly. Issue 1 came out in December 2006, so a year for 5 issues is better than many of their other comics.

The late shipping list was terrible around Civil War, and has got worse recently. Really makes the weekly comic delivery an annoyance to deal with when some weeks you'll get 8 Marvel titles and others you'll get 24.

SPOILERS FOR SPIDER-MAN: ONE MORE DAY


Spider-man makes a deal with the Devil so that his aunt May does not die. This deal means that Peter Parker's marriage to MJ now never happened and no one will ever remember it. The Devil does this because it is the most pure love he has ever known, will feed off the agony of tiny part of Spider-Man that will remember, and because it will piss off God. "I want your pain...I want....YOUR MARRIAGE!" shouts the Devil.

There are lots of 'BONG!' time-is-running-out sound effects and the world goes to black as MJ says "You just hit the jackpot, tiger." Peter Parker wakes up, seemingly younger and apparently back at college and Harry Osborne is alive again and his best friend. Friends crowd Peter (including a young Flash Thomson) and tell him how much they love him then they all raise their glasses at a party and shout: "A BRAND NEW DAY!"

Apparently, future issues will have MJ as a super-hero called...Jackpot.

I swear I am not making this up.

I have noticed a lot of message board pundits are screaming blue murder about this but either haven't read it or are going to keep buying it anyway. Most amusing. Myself, I am voting with my wallet and not buying any of the new ASM. If I want to read Spidey, I'll pick up an Essential volume or two methinks!

After House of M, Civil War and World War Hulk I'm all crossovered out, frankly. Not that I read any of House of M, and I gave up on Civil War with issue 4... yeah. I still can't be fluffed. If I'm in need of a crossover to read, I'll stick with Annihilation's deranged cosmic bollocks.

Why is there a Runaways miniseries tying into Secret Invasion though - surely Whedon's storyline will be finished by then (better be, they're soliciting the trade), they should be running it in the main series. Because one of the main characters is a sodding Skrull, you'd think something like an invasion of other Skrulls would be important to his/her character.
