Mmmm. MP Ratbat doesn't look much better than ye olde Ratbat. They both look equally nice.

Wow. I never realised the Masterpiece tapes were so small. I thought Masterpiece was all bigger, more accurate and articulated versions of the old G1 toys. I never expected any MP figure to be smaller than the original.
Edit: Okay a quick google image search has shown me a G1 Frenzy side by side with his MP counterpart, and they are more or less the same size. I did not know the tapes are more in scale with their original counterparts, compared to the other MP figures.

They could at least have expanded the chest compartment to accept a fourth cassette -Nick

I never expected any MP figure to be smaller than the original. MP tapes are compatible with original Soundwave and vice-versa. The MP tapes tend to incorporate things like Ravage's missiles and Laserbeak's laser guns built into the transformation rather than as accessories, meaning there's actually less to the figure when transformed.

Wow. That's almost as nifty as Laserbeak's transformation. Maybe more so. Now I really am annoyed that the only way to get him will be to buy Soundblaster. Which is to say, I'll never be getting it.
Here's hoping for a surprise SDCC exclusive release...

My anger and sorrow explained. Yes, let's hope for a sneaky Hasbro release somewhere, somehow. 'Cos I really like this figure. #%$@*#$! Takara!!!

The Ratbat is really rather nice. The way that the thrusters fold out of the cassette mode is really rather clever. Soundblaster himself is quite natty too, but then I've always felt it was quite a good colour scheme.

I had a brain-fart for a moment there and misread 'thrusters' as 'trousers'. Imagine my confusion.

Seems Ratbat has had the KO treatment. About £14 post paid and therefore with no import VAT from sellers on a certain well known auction site. Wouldn't usually allow KOs like that in my collection, but this figure was released in such an irritating manner I might make an exception...

Interesting, but that brilliant video review by Sifu a while back has turned me off the entire MP Rabat design. I just don't like the way the wings transform so that part of the cassette is visible on the front of the wing, as shown in Sifu's vid. Just a poor design. I'm considering Badbat these days.

This KO is more than adequate if you're that way inclined. I don't have the original obviously, but I've been comparing this to some HD reviews of the proper one on youtube and it's very close.
Differences I've noticed are that his eyes are missing the red paint apps, but the rest of the paint apps are there including the Decepticon logo on his chest and all the cassette detailling. There are noticeable sprue marks on the purple parts of the rocket boosters and there are some tiny stress marks where the pins have been pushed through the hinges in his wings. The plastic quality is almost as good as the other cassettes and unless you're looking at this through a magnifying glass you'd be hard pressed to notice any of what I've said. So probably about 80-90% of the way toward a real one.
Didn't come in any packaging other than the plastic cassette case the others had. Pretty good stand in for the price compared to what buying an original one would cost.

Frak me, THAT is pretty Hardcore. I mean, the rest of us mortals run screaming unapologetically for the KO version. But this...? Hard. That Graham bloke is one sexy TF collecting mother sexy mother freaking mother freaker. AND I bet he love Richard Marx.
