I was thinking of doing a top 5 thing for Christmas. The 12 days of Christmas thing occured to me, and then I thought Lego, because for many of us the Bricklust is especially strong this season and we associate getting Lego at Christmas.
Then I thought "I know something in Lego there's 12 of" and was happy.
But then I thought if I run the idea over the traditional 12 days of Christmas they'll be a clash with the normal end of year stuff.
So I've decided to run it as a countdown. A Half Advent if you like.....
So from tomorrow we'll be having The 12 Minifigure Series of Christmas!
Each day I'll run a minifigure series and you vote for your top 5s. I'll include links to the series and each individual figure in that series because remembering what figure was in which series is a bit of a pain. We'll do them in reverse order from 12 down to 1.
"But", I hear you say, "Minifig series 12 isn't out yet!" Ah but Phil has a clever idea ....
So put your thinking caps on and come back every day from tomorrow and vote. If you miss a day vote later if you want to.
And yeah, I've got a few more end of year Top 5s to run in the aftermath to keep us going between Christmas and New Year.

5) Brawny Boxer - Cheery looking fella ready to launch himself into the ring.
4) Agile Archer - Lovely look of cheeky confidence on his face.
3) Horseback Rider - The Horsey Set incarnate.
2) Wonderous Weightlifter - He looks like LEGO Dolph Lundgren. If he wants the second spot then I am not going to argue with him.
1) Judo Fighter - insofar as I had a sport in High School, it was Judo. I was never that good, and clearly nowhere near the standard of this minifigure. I love the look of confidence but concentration on her face.

One of the weaker series I think: 5) Sad Clown4) Sea Captain (Minifigures)It's Captain Haddock! 3) Roman CommanderI've loved the Roman theme which has run through several sets, another addition 2) Medusaand ditto the mythological figures 1) Bumblebee GirlAnother good costumed figure, but not on a par with some of the superb other offerings in earlier series

Team GB 5. Archer 4. Gymnast 3. Relay runner 2. Horse Rider, the only ticketed event I got in to aside from the football. 1. Boxer because of Hulls gold medal winner, also boxing gloves are great
Series 11 5. Gingerbread Man 4. Island Warrior - brill getting a few of these for my tropical island set. 3. Yeti - lolly 2. Scarecrow - In any other series this would top the list. Amazing. 1. Elwood Blues, so totally one half of the Blues Brothers
Series 10 - yeah I pretty much skipped this set
3. Skydiver, I I dont have one, but I can't help liking the face. 2. Bumblebee girl 1. Sad Clown
I like parts swapping Bee and Clown, you get some very odd looking figures

Series 11:
5) Yeti - A snowman, taking a break from being Abominable to treat himself to a summer treat... Genius
4)Gingerbread Man - He has a "Dunk Me" mug, brilliant. My join favourite LEGO Coffee Mug
3) Constable - A proper, old-time Policeman to join my LCPD collection. He is the crusty old beat copper who is holding off his retirement with one hand whilst using his community connections and long-experience to thwart crime before it can start.
2) Welder - Company for Hazmat Guy. I've got a couple of the Welders and they do look marvelous beavering away at work on my various flying LEGO whilst Hazmat guy is over in the other corner decontaminating something.
1) Scientist - That smile on her face worries me, as to those two flasks she is carrying around. There are LEGO Superhero figures now, and we know that one of the main sources of new Supervillians is Science! gone wrong. And that grin does make me think she is having far too much fun with Science! for comfort
Series 10
5) Motorcycle Mechanic - Even if for no more than my sisters comment that "He looks like he should be doing YMCA". Camp LEGO Outlaw Mechanic is great.
4)Grandpa - So much character in this minifigure. What does he have in that mug, coffee? Or a sneaky afternoon tot of rum? Who can tell.
3)Paintballer - Just because he looks like he is so wonderfully determined to have fun.
2) Bumblebee Girl - brilliantly daft.
1) Roman Commander - I already had a couple of Romans, so I needed someone to lead the patrol and secure the border against the barbarians. I do like the historical minifigures, and they have really done wonders with the Romans
Series 9:
5) Roller Derby Girl - I have a friend who is in a Roller Derby Team, which adds to the amusement value of the Minifigure
4) Judge - It is the grim face. He is so stern it is adorable.
3)Alien Avenger - Again, it is all about the character. Something about him just screams "Hapless alien who thought that being a mercenary would be easy money... except he isn't so good at it." I just envisage him haplessly tagging along with the Galaxy Patrol on adventures, and somehow always stumbling into whatever is needed to save the day whilst Galaxy Patrol is grimly Space Marining around.
2)Battle Mech - Brilliantly cheery LEGO take on the "Robot Superhero" idea. He just looks the part of the sort of robot that would foil Evil Mechs plans to steal all the red bricks in LEGO City and still find time to get someones cat down from the top of a LEGO Tree.
1) Heroic Knight - Noble, clad in shining armour, shield and sword in hand... He is basically LEGO William Russel as Sir Lancelot, and I cannot say fairer than that.
Series 8:
5) Cowgirl - Bright, sunny and breezy looking. She does look like she came straight out of a kids Western adventure series.
4) Evil Robot - Marched straight out of the old black and white serials to fail to menace the real world. He is a classic of B-production design
3) Pirate Captain - ARRR! Pirates are great, so he makes the list. If he came with a monkey he would have climbed up the list for double awesomeness.
2) Conquistador - another historical, and a great looking one. Love his rapier as well.
1) Businessman - Any rumours that he actually works for Box are of course ridiculous, and he absolutely never meets a Butcher to go into the freezer and get instructions... Lovely figure, with a wonderful sense of "Stiff upper lip" to him.
