Had a look at the February comics sales for next Feb on Disposable Heroes, who I was using. Even with the sub discount, all comics have jumped up another 15p in price. That's the last straw. Digital all the way now*. The price of print has just reached silly levels now, especially when a cheaper alternative exists.

I'm not sure any comic has annoyed me as much as Avenging Spider-Man #1 has in a long time. . I read Andu's comic. I thought it was shit, though my opinion is partly biased due to not caring about 616 Spidey since the character destroying 'One More Day' bollocks. Zeb Wells is not a good writer and Joe Mad can't draw for toffee (when he can be arsed to turn up). -Ralph

Picked up the Mark Millar Superior Charity Special. It's to raise money for the Yorkhill Sick Kids Hospital (I was born next door in the regular hospital, fact fans). A rather large number of politicians have spent an inordinate amount of energy and determination trying to shut down this world-renowned essential resource for many years (even though there is not even an economic case for it) so any pennies happily donated.

Wolverine & The X-Men 2: Yeah, somehow I picked up the second issue instead of waiting for EXM. Fun. This is a fun comic. That's to be highly commended. And they do something with Iceman too. Well worth a read.

You're evil so and sos for making me do this....
The art hasn't been great all along. The dialogue is poor throughout. As soon as Wolverine shows up Mac gets in a fight with him. Lots of references to the Big Secret Machine they've been building. Sasquatch behaving like a Hulk KO in beast form (where did that come from?) Sandman being imune to the Purple girl's powers somehow. The traitor turns out to be who it's clear it's been all along and that Alpha Flight knew and were using it. The Master's spaceship being hidden under capital hill as he cries "For the good of humanity ALPHA FLIGHT MUST DIE". Oh it's just rotten from start to finish. horrible junk.
Thank goodness Wolverine & the X-Men 3 has just popped through the door.

And what's worse people out in Internet land loved it. It's a travesty of a comic!

Wolverine and the X-Men is more fun than Uncanny, but both books have a distinct tone and purpose. I do enjoy Uncanny.
I just think they need to get shot of adjectiveless and Legacy.

The fact it apparently isn't is very disappointing.
Alpha Flight - I'd love them to make work, but it doesn't seem to be possible these days. DC have the same problem with Legion of Super Heroes.

The number of people that have made Alpha Flight work is few: Byrne & Claremont, but they created them. Mantlo but, and with no disrespect to the great man, not as well as Byrne did. The first four issues of Fabian Nicieza.
The problem is we keep coming back in the hope they will find someone who does get it and rcapture the magic.

Of the two Wolverine & ... is the one that's doing it for me. It's got a life and bounce to it. Andu, have you got the latest FF Adventures? Turn to the back and look at the next issue cover. That's good Alan Davis squishy that is!

I have seen the next issue FFA cover... and very nice indeed it is too!
As to Alpha Flight, I do think it suffers from Legion Syndrome now - never really holds a new audience and it has been rebooted to the point of living death. Some books just can't survive continual restarts and I think Alpha is another good example of that.

Wolverine & The X-Men 4 Aw, this is just such a good comic. Even with not the regular artist drawing they've produced a top, top issue here, albeit one a little lacking in the "doing super hero things" stakes. Don't care. Fabulous.

Alpha Flight #8: Better then the last issue, but that wasn't hard. Remind me never to buy an Alpha Flight comic againm unless Byrne or Claremont are involved.
X-Force #20: Back to Betsy having been kidnapped by Brian and the reformed Captain Britain corps. I didn't get on with the art here and any attempt to do a new Otherworld story just bores me to tears. But my real problem with this issue is that we've got a good idea how the story will end due to the Secret Avengers advert showing Captain Britain on the team printed in the middle of the issue! Idiots.
X-Factor #230: Every so often I wonder why I buy X-Factor. But it's just such a decent read month after month with some fabulous dialogue in this issue. Unfortunetly at the end of this issue my least favourite mutant couple show up. Apart - fine. Together - kiss of death for any title.
