I'm glad to see Aaron become one of Marvel's go-to writers. I loved Ghost Rider for his unpretentiously embracing the whole concept and telling a good, fun story with it.

He has brought fun back to x-men comics, which for too long have laboured under GrimDark.

I'm sure it's no coincidence that Daredevil has had a similar revival. Good times!

I've not read the DD yet. Liked Bendis, loved Brubaker but the next guy (Diggle?) left me cold.

You absolutely must! I believe the first collection is just out. I'm hoping for some kind of high quality over-sized hardback edition at some point, the art really deserves it.
I went off Bendis, quite liked the first Brubaker collection and then for some reason forgot about it. Waid does pick up the status quo but changes the whole tone. DD vs Klaw! A grand idea, and well done.
I honestly think it's the best superhero book out there.

Read Wolverine and the X-Men #6 on the way in this morning - Lurg the Living Casino! Marvelous!

In a move in which I have surprised myself in recent weeks I have found myself reading less and less digital copies and going back to print. I find the resolution isn't quite there yet on digital and hurts my eyes after a while. Plus, tapping the screen constantly is becoming increasingly tiresome! Hmmm!

Grumpy old man!
I find that I am slowly spending less on digital comics. Not because I have any problems, but just there is a dearth of good material out there. Still buying back issues of stuff, and looking for good small press material but it would appear that mainstream comics no longer have much to offer me these days.

I 'm not giving up digital, but for now it is for back-up quick reading copies. Print is still preferred option.

I tried reading Uncanny X-Force due to it getting some good reviews, but I could not get past Deadpool, truly one of the shittest characters in fiction.

Yon random '2 comics for 99' packs have turned up in the local The Works. Once again, Ravage: 2099 stalks the shelves.

In other news, the Jean Grey School Twitter and associated feeds have reached new heights of lunacy this evening as the Professors bicker amongst themselves while answering questions during a Brood invasion. Though I remain cross that the sensational Twitter character find of 2012 (Food Blimp 300) has yet to have it's own twitter feed or comic series.
edit: Oh no! An alien menace has been following the live feed and now wants to kill Broo!

A six issue mini-series should not be late. It is a defined run which can be planned for and slack built into the schedule to cover any unexpected developments. I have very little sympathy for professional publishers who cannot get a mini-series out on time.
That said, I had already written this off as a periodical intending to possibly pick it up in trade format at some point anyway. (I am tending away from the model of first-print US comics in general due to disillusionment. We have lost something with the rise of the "Comics are great art and great art takes as long as it takes" model. There is something to be said for concentrating the mind with the idea that "it has to be out every month/week/whatever")

Thundercats once again stalks UK newsstands after about 18 years. First impressions are that is a much higher budget title than the current TF UK comic: nice card cover, 13 pages of originated strip.

Feels very much like the first Titan TF comic, rather than what it has degenerated into.

AvsX #0
I didn't want to be pulled into another Marvel cross-over (I ignored the last one completely), but Jason Aaron's name in the credits won me over. I actually enjoyed the Bendis half of this more, which surprised me. I do like how he writes Carol Danvers.
As for the art... my, how, er, big Scarlet Witch has got! Has she had another kid recently? It's Frank Cho and I found it perfectly alright but mildly embarrassing to read on the train.
Flash #7
Continues to be one of my favourites of the new 52. Lovely, lovely art and somewhat old-school, soapy superhero writing with good cliffhangers. I can't think of much to say specifically about this issue, which maybe says something, but I like this book.
Doctor Who Classic series 4 #2
I admit I bought this because I saw "Furman" on the cover. It's alright! Fairly predictable plot which I can't help but feel I've seen somewhere before. Pretty dense on the text, felt like it took longer to read than it needed to. Nice Ridgway art though.

Budget-wise my comics buying these days is down to Uncanny X-Men, Wolverine and the X-Men, the 2 TF ongoing titles and the Panini titles except for Spider-Man. There are other things I would pick up but comics are just too darned expensive these days. Only the odd trade is picked up due to cost too. Though I do like to scour the charity shops and marts for random things and the library provides joy from time to time. Alas, 2000Ad/Dredd stuff is never in Edinburger libraries.

I have been trimming back too. Today I left Batman #8 and Supergirl #8 on the shelves. The new 52 honeymoon is over and with OMAC's sad passing I'm down to Action Comics, Wonder Woman, Animal Man and Flash, which is still 4 more DC titles per month than I typically would have bought less than a year ago, admittedly.

DC's treatment of Alan Moore regarding the whole Before Watchmen thing means I'm not giving them any of my money. Disgraceful, trotting out arseholes like JMS to defend it.

I don't know, they've been treating him badly a lot longer than that. I think if I made treating creators badly at some point criteria for not reading a company's comics, I wouldn't be reading much at all. Before Watchmen very shabby, but I blame JMS as much as DC. He's never been shy about this kind of thing and I'm sure would have stirred that pot whether DC prodded him or not. I did enjoy seeing Mark Waid taking a dig recently.

Catching up a bit on some pamphlet reading.
Captain America and Iron Man #arbitrary-large-number is a bit disappointing. Not familiar with Cullen Bunn's work, I bought this for the Kitson art, but it's not his best and the story is somewhat mediocre. Murky colouring on some pages doesn't suit BK's style at all.
Earth 2 #1 and #2 I bought on a whim and quite enjoyed. Feels like more happens than in JLA at least, and the art is nice. This lead me to buy World's Finest #1 which isn't bad either. The Perez art is good, but the switch to the (also good) Macguire pages is a bit jarring. I thought they were alternating arcs?
Saga #4 continues to live up to the high standards it has set. I'm surprised everyone seems to be taking the pimp-killing scene at face value; the latter panels suggest to me that there's more to it than an easy way of making The Will an anti-hero, and the tone of the series in general would lead me to think it's more complex than that.
Daredevil also continues to be good fun. The wait between issues is far too long.
Adventure Time is in a hipster-ish world of its own but is so funny at times that I don't mind at all. I know nothing of the cartoon it's based on but will continue to read the comic as long as it's this entertaining.
