Second arrival in two days! This time - Dreadwind and Smokejumper, loose complete and in mighty fine nick. I will keep this one for the weekend I think. The Decepticon army grows! Ooooo, is that your first experience of this mould?

Was there a white version of that mould at some point? For some reason I recall seeing it on the shelves of ToysRUs circa 2001, but that really can't be right, can it?

Ooooo, is that your first experience of this mould? Yes it is. I'm really looking forward to it based on your recommendation. The bomber mode is impressively big. I will probably get to that tonight. I'm itching to fire those missiles.

Smokejumper's a nifty little chap. Is there a Phil's Mad Theory(TM) on why he looks like Optimus Prime?

I love the Stealth Bomber duo and it's still a wonderful toy. It was the first you to do fully posable properly after the proto-posable Illuminators/Laser Rods. Thank Primus they did away with the rubber band joint type legs after the first go.
I used to own three of the different Stealth Bomber flavours, but now just the one original.

I was quite chuffed with this arrangement until I realised Dangar is totally hidden behind Smokejumper. I'll do better next time. I need more RID cons! I've had SO much more fun with these toys that anything Generations has produced this year.

Yeah, this is exactly what I've been thinking about Generations, even with yesterday's Airazor purchase - they're really good, well-engineered figures, and because of that and the detail they're great for photographs. But for toys, as being something just fun to fiddle with, they're not as great as previous things. Give me some gimmicks, or something with a fiddle factor! Just like those toys have.

You can't get a good fiddle with toys.

Sadly there aren't that many more RiD vehicle Cons. Obsidian, a repaint of the BM Basic of the same name, Scourge from Hero Optimus and an impossible to obtain exclusive Jhiaxus from BM Deluxe Jetstorm. Ooo, yes, and the RiD Flipchangers Wind Sheer & Skyfire who come in vs packs with Skid-Z & Tow-Line. You definitely need the Flipchangers

There's also Axer and Bludgeon While scanning the picture for Axer, I completely failed to notice Bludgeon. I guess a bright yellow tank is better camouflage than I ever suspected.

Yes I've got the Flipchangers on my hit list. They seem to be much more easy to come by in the US than here. Really I'm after the Machine Wars and G2 moulds used. Need to have a go at the Go-Bots, but my shortlist for both factions is now:
Prowl, X-Brawn Skid-Z & Windsheer Tow-Line & Skyfire Sideways & Axer
Then perhaps Jhiaxus and any other Baldigus recolours if my pockets are deep enough. I love the look of Cryotek but I've got TM2 Megatron so that's not important.

Cryotek is probably one of the most expensive RiDs, given he's wanted by both RiD and BW completionists.

Yes I've got the Flipchangers on my hit list. They seem to be much more easy to come by in the US than here. That's because they came out in the US and didn't here :-( UK Rid Deluxe Skipped the wave with them and Bruticus in. The wave with the Buildteam and Mega Octane was effectively a Woolworths exclusive - it was the only place anyone saw it till as US wave containing the toys was grey imported by TRU. The two commonly available waves were the Car Brothers and their repaints. The Basic/Spychanger waves didn't do too badly - apart from the Combaticons shelf warming due to no Mega Octane on sale at the time - it had gone from shelves by the time they showed up. I NEVER saw a Mega toy for sale in the UK, but I know the 2 Predacon sets and trains were seen, but probably as grey imports. Ultra just Megatron - No Galvatron. There were some later deluxe and basic cases grey imported in TRU which gave us Obsidian and Storm Jet. No exclusives till the Stealth Bomber and Destructicons. Don't recall anything else. DEFINITELY NO SCOURGE!!!!!!

Then perhaps Jhiaxus and any other Baldigus recolours if my pockets are deep enough. Phil has been desiring an Urban Camo Bruticus for YEARS. You never see them in the UK and I don't think they're cheap in the US - not looked recently. You might want a peak at the original Universe toyline which reused many RiD toys tfwiki.net/wiki/Transformers:_Universe_(2003_toyline)I am saddened that the recent Beast era book didn't cover Universe as 90+% of the toys in it are from or reused in the BW/BM/RiD era!

Why that mould didn't get a second run in red during Beast Machines I will never know! I regret never picking one up. I had a stupid "i already have that mold" policy to my buying things, and some of my biggest regrets come from BM, RiD, and U1. Not grabbing Cryotek, the Pred Trio, T-Wrecks, Primal Prime, and Primal, Nemesis, and Razorclaw from Universe are some of my biggest regrets.

A side effect of RiD being composed of figures from so many different lines, is that it takes repurposes really well. Very little looks out of place.
So it's an especially good home to Universe 1 redecoes.

I bought one for an ex about - oh blimey - a decade ago now, which might explain why it only cost me about thirty quid at the time. Needless to say, I no longer have either of those things.

You couldn't even find them when they released in the US, despite being an early wave. Very low stocked compared to the others

They didn't get a UK release at all, the waves with them and Bruticus (Intended Beast Machines Cerebrus) was completely skipped! You couldn't even find them when they released in the US, despite being an early wave. Very low stocked compared to the others They were in 2 waves: www.fredsworkshop.com/2001-rid.htmlThe UK got three deluxe cases: one with the Car Brothers, one with the Build Team & Mega Octane, which was effectively a Woolworths exclusive, and one with the Super Car Brothers.

Bloody Hub. I MAY have bought some RID spychangers.

Landfill was disappointed he'd been left behind to look after the kids again. This started as two. I bought a Hot Shot/Revs sealed on card two pack to see what these figures are like, and before they'd arrived I picked off another auction that meant I had five of the first wave and the Op/Magnus figures. After they came I decided I needed the other four figures from wave two and a Crosswise so I had the ten retail spychangers, and happened across an auction for all ten. It was on for £15 and I put a bid on for that thinking it wouldn't come off, but it did. So, albeit slightly gutted that I spent about thirty quid getting five of the first wave and then only £15 to get all ten a week later, I now have a desk covered in multiple Spychangers. All of them have weapons as well except Crosswise. So now I need a Crosswise gun and the Scourge/X-Brawn basics to finish that little corner of the RID collection off.

This revelation stunned me on the Zoom call. Of all the spare parts in all the gin joints, Phil has the one gun my Spychanger collection is missing.
