Oh dear. Amusingly, Vaughn was originally the director on X-Men 3 before jumping ship late on.
If Brett Ratner is hired again I will scream.

Rather a shame that Vaughn has gone. I thought the did a cracking job on that and his touch may well be missed.

Catching X-Men 7 straight after work tomorrow as it is the type of film that pricks on the internet will delight in spoiling as soon as it is out.

[pedant]It's X-Men 6, not X-Men 7. The Wolverine is not X-Men 6 in much the same way as Avengers Assemble is not Iron Man 3, and Wolverine comics are not X-Men comics.[/pedant]

I think you could make a decent arguement for the first Wolverine film not being an X-Men film either making this X-Men 5!

Wolverine comics are X-Men comics! That's Marvel's view!
The Wolvie also has x-men characters at the end and one in dreams.

Damn your fiendish counter-logic! I abandon my previous failing argument and switch to the fact that The Winter Soldier has two Avengers in it and yet is not Avengers 2. And just think, people like me are allowed to vote. And have now done so. Martin

Well Fox who make the films consider this number 7 in their X-Men film series. Sorry, Martin. Whichever way you turn...you lose!
Incidentally, folk who saw it at midnight are spoiling it already. My rage knows no bounds.

The Wolverine is too boring to have a place in my Blu-ray/DVD collection, which only acknowledges X-Men films that have the word X-Men in the title. I am looking forward to this battle of wills perhaps even more than the film tonight! I'm just seeing how far I can push it before either Phil or Ralph moves everything X-related to a different thread. Martin

I look forward to Martin vibrating in rage when he one day sees the boxset with all 7 X-Men films in it.
Also, The Wolvie directly leads into Days of Future Past. How is that possible if it is not one of the SEVEN X-Men films then, hmmm?

Also, The Wolvie directly leads into Days of Future Past. How is that possible if it is not one of the SEVEN X-Men films then, hmmm? I didn't actually say it wasn't an X-Men film (though I suggested it by saying Wolverine comics weren't X-Men comics, which I regret), I said it wasn't X-Men 6. Just as Iron Man 3, Thor 2 and Captain America 2 may be Avengers films leading into an Avengers film but they are not Avengers 2, 3 and 4. Ha! Sorry, run out of time. Argument ends. I win. Martin

I side with Martin on this.
Wolverine comics are NOT X-Men comics (apart from Wolverine and the X-Men) they are X-Men Universe comics. The core X-Men titles are the X-Men, Uncanny X-Men, Amazing X-Men, All New X-Men and the others are part of the universe.
The same I would say is true of the films. This is the fifth X-Men film, but the seventh in the X-Universe.
You lose Burns.

X-Men: Origins should not be counted as an X-Men movie under any circumstances. It should not even be counted as a movie, being the worst piece of shite produced in a good long while.
It's only redeeming value is Liv Shriver.

I will side with Martin where 'X-Men' referes to the X-Universe and not necessarily solely movies about the team of mutants known as X-Men.
Now we just need Nick to join us and the Illumanti can make a definitive ruling to the benefit of all right thinking movie counters!

The Wolvie is the 6th film in a sequence of films with a continuity. It has elements from the first 5. It leads into the 7th. It is full of X-Men characters. It stars a fucking X-Men chap. To say it is not an X-Men film is as daft as saying The Dark Knight is not a Batman film. Nonsense!
