It'll be Universe Ironhide done in green/silver as RID X-Brawn... That would be awesome! But then who would you make Prowl from?

You say that... but a Universe Ironhide in Longtooth's colours would make a good "Earth" mode for the inner robot.

According to this exciting 'order update' email I live in 'Foreign' rather than 'UK'. Sigh.
I also see that if I ever have to order from them that as a 'Foreign' customer I have to fax front and back of my card and also something with my signature. No, I will not do that. Firstly, that is terribly unsecure. Secondly, I lack the fax access anyway. Also, IT'S AN ONLINE ****ING STORE. NO OTHER STORE DEMAND THAT ON THE ******* INTERNET!
Twats. I won't be able to order the G2 Ramjet then.
Regretting my drunken purchase even more!

Which would be terribly kind, but it is strange that they discriminate against 'foreign' members.

Haha what, you are of course, joking. Right? Right? 'NTERNATIONAL ORDERS Fun Publications, Inc. realizes that collectibles have worldwide appeal. We ship anywhere that the United States Postal Service or FedEx delivers. However, there are restrictions. Upon your first order, you will need to fax us a copy of your credit card, front and back as well as photo identification, which shows your signature to 817-448-9843 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting 817-448-9843 end_of_the_skype_highlighting. If a credit card transaction is made through our site without the fax confirmation of your identity, we reserve the right to CANCEL THE ORDER. We ship international orders via Express Mail with the USPS or FedEx International Economy or Priority. For our Canadian customers, we offer three USPS options: First Class International (up to 4 pounds) (no insurance/no signature), Priority International (no insurance/no signature), or Express Mail (insurance and signature are included with this option). We are required to declare the full value of the products purchased on all customs paperwork. Fun Publications, Inc. is not responsible for any customs fees, taxes, tariffs, or other fees your local government may charge you for ordering items from the United States (note that these items are generally made in China, Japan, or Taiwan). Please check with your local government for tax rules in your country.' -Ralph

Botcon and Botcon related stuff insistence on fax really gets on my tits. Are faxes still really widespread in America or something?

Fun Publications do not give a fuck about non us customers. But as long as they make money Hasbro don't care at all. As an international fanclub they suck ass in the extreme.

My one successful stand against their anti "foreign" policy (unless I count the fact they brought the membership price down to under £50 as I repeatedly suggested) was telling them no one liked the use of foreign. Its hasn't made it as far as the club, but if you register for Botcon as I just did (usual nightmare only a lot quicker) you'll find the term international member.
I don't remember if I ever did the faxed ID thing. Anyway ordering a single item from the club store is the single biggest waste of money I could imagine so your not missing out there.

Really? How so?
re: Aesir. I don't have a working scanner and would not send that info in email either. It's not secure and no other website in 15 years ish of buying online has asked me to!
In other news, I do dislike the term 'foreign' if it's meant to be an international club.
Oh, Ralph. You must never drink again.

I've ordered from them in the past without faxing anything. It says they reserve the right to cancel the order but online credit card purchasing is so secure these days that it's unlikey they'd have any real reason to doubt the authenticity of the order.

I'm not convinced that it has ever been intended to be an international club, as opposed to an American Club that people who live in the other country (i.e the "foreign" country where everything that doesn't happen in America happens) can join. If it was an international club it wouldn't have "domestic" and "foreign" members, it would have "american", "canadian", "Mexican", "chinese" etc members.

Nah it is definately supposed to be an international club; IIRC Simon tried to get Hasbro to help him out with stuff at AA but was told only Fun Pub had the license to do anything internationally.

I think thats a case of Hasbro selling the worldwide fan club rights, but FP buying them but only to run a US club. As long as they meet Hasbros basic demands it doesn't matter to them how the club is run. FP were probably surprised by the foreign fans, as they had run the Gi Joe club for a while and I get the impression that that is a much more UScentric fandom at least for the older 12 inch figures. Since they pretty much copy and pasted the clubs structure TFCC continues to be UScentric too. If they were willing to work more closely with AA or some group over here I'm sure it would increase the clubs size and much improve the club for members throughout Europe.

Plus if they did have a UK or other european base, then the costs for us "foreign" members would be a lot lower too (in theory)

Whenever the first mag appears I may write into whatever letters page they have with some constructive suggestions.
In the meantime, I am exploring the members only site. There appear to be many text stories...

I need to renew my membership. I think I shall leave it a week or so for the Botcon registrations to die down a bit.
