I did actually let out an 'oh for f*cks sake' at seeing the Jihaxus. Yes, RID homage, cute. But let's be fair, not the Jihaxus anyone wanted.

I've seen some accusations these images may be fakes.

I did actually let out an 'oh for f*cks sake' at seeing the Jihaxus. Yes, RID homage, cute. But let's be fair, not the Jihaxus anyone wanted. It is a RID Homage? I guess I am missing something there because I don't really get that vibe from it. And no, not really the Jhiaxus I was looking for. The choice of Starscream gives him an alt-mode which just yells "air superiority" to me, whereas the G2 Jhiaxus always looked more like a Close Air Support mode to me. The classic non-nonsense mud-mover. Never mind, they have already given me a decent stab at a Jhiaxus with an Earth-mode in the PCC line, so I can happily settle for that. Karl

I am aware of it - one of the few RID toys I haven't owned. I just didn't click to the similarity between the, when I first saw the picture of the new one. My brain went "Orange, grey/black trim" about the Generations one, and it felt different to "grey, orange/black trim", which is how I think of the RiD one. But that may be part of the special way my brain is broken.

I'm glad I'm not the only one whose first reaction was "these have GOT to be fake". I absolutely hate them. I also find it hard to believe, since Generations thus far seems to have mostly gone out of it's way to give us accurate representations of beloved characters so far. That said, I *do* suspect Orion Pax will be retooled into Kup and Scoop into Scrapper in the not-too-distant.

PCC Skyhammer has a head which - in my opinion - looks extremely Jhiaxus like, and there is something about the "straight-up, straight-down" look of the humanoid mode which gives him a feel of G2 Jhiaxus to me. (Other peoples mileage may, of course, vary). Karl

Personally, i think the closest they can get to an accurate G2 Jhiaxus from the current crop, is a repaint of IDW Megatron.

Hasbro hates Nightbeat. How else to explain that he yet again will get a repaint rather than his own new mould?

I do hope so. On the plus side The Jazz mould in those colours does look really good, might make a decent Skram.
Jhiaxus if you ignore the RID colours actually works pretty well. The body is slim but does match the original comic design reasonably well, if the head sculpt is good, it'll be worth the effort of repainting it.

Why would someone fake pictures of random toys? What could they possibly hope to gain?

Fame and the adoration of those who they fool.
Or this case sitting back and watching all the sad people.
Sad but true.

Didn't the fake pictures first surface on an online store? Thus drives traffic and free advertising.

They've not yet been confirmed as fake.
The store in question has form for getting pictures of toys early

It might be am honest mistake. Someone (a fan of RiD and the Jazz mould) showing off their photoshop skills, someone else gets the wrong end of the stick/doesn't read the attached post properly (I've done it myself) and sends the image to their mates and so on. However, I suspect that may be just wishful thinking and these are what we have in store for these two chaps. I expect a properly coloured Jhiaxus will surface from eHobby or Botcon soon enough. I'm honestly surprised no third party company has made a Jhiaxus yet. Between reprints, TF wiki and IDW he's not obscure any more and he's on a hell of a lot of wish lists. Maybe FansToys will take a crack at him after the Dinobots -Nick

I don't think they are fake, they make a sense of sorts, it's just not what fans were hoping for.
Jazz is a great mould that has only been reused in store exclusives so far and in those colours looks great, I can imagine it selling well to kids who arent attached to the character.
Jhiaxus makes less sense, choosing colours based on the RID toy that make it look very similar to the already released Starscream is odd.

I am really upset about Jazz as Nightbeat, although I might just change my mind. The vehicle mode will work well, and since I have FOC Jazz anyways, I suppose I won't mind picking up the Jazz mould as Nightbeat. I just HOPE the head will be Nightbeat, and not simply Jazz's head repainted as Nightbeat...although...I dunno...whatever...what are those things hanging out of his door/wings? I want close up pictures. Starscream as Jhiaxus is also ok...though kind of bland...
None of these are as exciting as Scoop though :-)

I dont buy it. Jhiaxus is a logical choice. As there basically are only three choices for him. New mold, repaint from IDW Megatron, and repaint from armada starscream. G2 guys seldom ever get new molds. So a new mold is highly unlikely. Megatron has already gotten a repaint, and almost immediately after him. Another G2 guy, on top of it. So that leaves Starscream as the most likely base. Making him orange makes sense, given that he's orange in IDW, and basing him on that horrible design seems like something Hasbro would do, instead of giving us a proper Jhiaxus.
Nightbeat makes zero sense, though. When hasbro has avoided reusing any toy that existed before prime and gen 2.0, why would they suddenly and randomly choose this one? And why and how would this seller get a random piece of control art, for Wingblade?
Jhiaxus is the only part of this that seems legit. Had Nightbeat been done from FoC Jazz, I'd probably believe this is on the up.

I've been thinking about it all day and am now thinking Springer/Sandstorm would make a great Jhiaxus assuming there was a budget to modify Sandstorms wings/tail section into something more spaceship like. Then I'd put that on a Springer torso and Sandstorms knees and probably Springers legs assuming the toy needed wheels there again.

I like your thinking Bogatan. That would make a great Jhiaxus toy. The toy looks good, but the cockpit window on that toy is so incredibly fragile. Mine split into three pieces after just a few days. I thought I put this into the new pictures thread. Has someone moved my post? (looks around accusingly)

I had to see if I was right. I think I was, it looks good, or well a real one would. And thats just a new head, you'd have to have him with Earth modes. With a remould on the same scale as Sandstorm though, lots of possibilities.

I dunno. Even as much as I hate the mold, I think FoC Starscream is the only modern mold that could do a proper Jhiaxus. And the only way I'd buy that mold again.
