That doesn't change the fact that Omega Supreme can apparently lift many times more weight in tons than the much bigger Metroplex. Martin Oh yes, Omega is definitely stronger than Metroplex. But is there a way to scale the strongest chatacters (whose specs denote a weight they can lift) all to the same size and reduce the weight they can lift accordingly to give us an actual winner? Guess we'd need definite sizes for the robots though... The logical thing to do would be to take a ratio of their mass, to the amount of extra mass they are able to lift and grade them by hoe many times their own mass they can lift. This of course would rely on us having known mass for any of the robots... Karl

Like 'Strength' a 10 in 'Intelligence' was saved only for the leaders. Which is a fact I was intrigued with as a child. I believe Perceptor was the first to break the leader-only 10 (was Shockwave a 10...?) Now I certainly don't think 10s should be thrown around willy nilly, but I felt there are a couple of characters who would have benefited from an Intelligence of 10. Prowl, Soundwave and Skids (and Shockwave if he isn't already). These characters posses a general intelligence, unlike the more specific intelligences of Wheeljack or Ratchet, who I am happy with remaining a 9 and an 8 respectively. I also found certain characters to have been given unexpected Intelligence ratings, such as Sideswipe's 7. It changes a character. Before I managed to buy a Sideswipe, I always expected Sideswipe to have a 5, or a 6 at best. But at 7 he's quite smart. It sits as an odd, but intriguing, conflict against his reckless, brash nature. Starscream's 9 was also a surprise (having swapped the Techspecs about correctly). I assumed an 8 for Starscream, clever, but not a 'super brain' like your 9s and 10s. But no, he's a 9. Interesting.

Shockwave is indeed a ten for int. It's his only ten.
Jetfire is a ten too. And Computron. And Fort Max.

Ha. Galvatron (9) is less intelligent than Megatron (10). But then I suppose when the tech spec was written there may not have been the link between them.

I always hated leaders being straight 10s across the board.
Particularly because neither trucks, nor guns are known for being particularly fast.
And G1 Megatron is dumb as rocks. In one continuity he thought that a giant purple griffin was the key to beating the autobots. Marvel continuity Megatron isn't much smarter. He kept resurrecting Starscream, after all.
While he's not stupid, Optimus isn't the smartest autobot, either.

Let's use the toys as the scale - that's what the tech specs come with and are referring to after all.

Where on the one hand I can see what CJ is saying, but on the other I can't imagine Megatron not having an Intelligence of 10.
When I got Megatron, he was amoung my earliest Transformers, I looked at the 'Strength 10, Intelligence 10', and thought: "blimey, this guy is TOUGH!". The 10 in Intelligence made Megatron dangerous .

Unfortunately, as CJ also points out, he's a danger only to himself.
But yes, it makes some sense that the leaders all have Intelligence ratings - after all, it only makes sense that leaders should be the smartest in the room. Just like in real life. ... Oh.

I like this, too, and I've definitely known a few people who are very intelligent but I could also describe as reckless and brash. He was a scientist working with Jetfire before the war, which I also think makes him interesting. There's an implication that losing his friend is what politicised him.

Lots of politicians with science backgrounds, even successful ones (Merkel!) who we should assume are somewhat ruthless or at least very good at political maneuvering.
I think it adds interesting colour - all politicians have some kind of background, even if it often is journalism or law.

I've always disliked Starscream being traitorous 24/7.
Always felt they needed to play up his astronomical background a little more. Either usefully, like being the Decepticons' best navigator, or comically, like correcting someone's random astronomical mistake to which everyone's like "oh yeah. I forgot you're smart."

And those that do don't seem to have the ego problems Starcream does. I can accept him as cunning or smart... but I've never seen an interpretation of the character where he seems a 'scientific' sort.

Speed is an odd one in Techspecs, it can be interpreted in different ways. Generally, the fastest land vehicles are 7, with the occasional 8 (Windcharger), but the slowest flying Transformers are 8 (Laserbeak, Dirge, Powerglide, Slingshot), and helicopters are often 8, with 9 reserved for jets (Ramjet, Silver bolt, Thundercracker), and 10 for space-going vehicles (Cosms, Astrotrain) and the fastest jets (Starscream). It therefore seems a bit crowded at the top. Should land vehicles be shifted down? Using 6s instead of 7s? Would that change much? Would that make cars too slow sounding? There are obviously oddities. Galvatron's 9, '84 Optimus Prime's 8. Megatron came out well with a 4. Was Hot Rod (PUTTUP!) a 10 or something ridiculous? (Ratbat's speed was slow, can't remember exactly the value, but, what, does he just float around the place...?) Then there's the concept of averages. Look at Sandstorm and Battletrap, both 6s, both have helicopter modes. Are their 6s averages? Doesn't sit well with me, although in Battletrap's case his helicopter section couldn't go too far from his jeep section, so its use of its speed would be limited.

How can Galvatron be a 9? Does he run really fast? His gun and tank modes don't fly. In TFUS #75 he used his cannon to fly up from Cybertron's surface and shoot Unicron in the face. Didn't he also use his cannon to fly at one point in the Movie, or am I imagining it? Martin

Rodimus (PUTTUP!) 'Prime' has a 9 if memory allows as well.
Scourge was a 9...? But his Target Master was a 6...?
It's the crowding at the top between land and air vehicles which confuseshes me.
