Today's children do not know the joy of techspec decoders. The stupid thing about the decoders was that they only came with boxed toys, and many of us got Mini Autobots before we got anything else, and so became accustomed to reading the specs with the naked eye. Has anyone here actually been holding a decoder up to the computer screen to read the tech-specs scans? But it was sad that after the first three Micromaster Patrols they switched to boring bar charts. Tech-specs and rubsigns! Hallmarks of proper Transformers. Martin

I have not been using a decoder.
After all these years... I don't need one....
Especially as, like Pinwing, I can now see-
TECHSPECS WITHIN TECHSPECS...

Admit it... You're wearing glasses with red lenses so you can look cool while searching for invisible tech spec readouts in EVERYTHING.

Which is a bit disappointing.

Indeed.
I had the special power to read Tech Specs as a child without the Tech Spec Decoder though have lost this as an adult. Or perhaps they are harder to read on a screen than on a card. That is what I tell myself.

The Micromaster Patrols had teamwork and co-operation on their tech-specs.
If the following well-known teams from 1984-1987 (who appeared in both the Marvel comics and the Sunbow cartoon) had teamwork and co-operation on their tech-specs, what should they be?
Post your numbers in the thread and feel free to debate/argue/amend. If, like me, you don't understand the difference between teamwork and co-operation, give a single number. Otherwise, feel free to differentiate. At the end of the week, numbers will be averaged and rounded to the nearest whole number!

Awesome great idea from the Techspecs Wizard!!!
I do think we need to discuss the difference between Teamwork and Co-operations. 'Cos, no, I'm not sure of the difference either...

I think Teamwork is how well they work together, as a team (somewhat obviously), whereas Co-Operation is how much they like each other, how willing they are to work together.
Like the Dinobots will have a high teamwork, but a lower co-operation, because they're a bunch of miserable buggers. But they're a team of miserable buggers, damnit!

The dictionary says teamwork is the combined action of a group and cooperation is the process of working together.
So I suppose cooperation could be said to be the act of working together, whereas teamwork is how good the product of that is.

CJ just described it this way in the Micromaster thread, which I found really helpful-
Co-operations is a three legged race. Teamwork is a relay race.
So, the Stunticons all hate eachother, so their Co-operation would be low. But, they work well together as a team, so their Teamwork may be higher. Is that right?

Actually, this is a better kind of poll in some respects, as everyone's vote factors in the final averaged result. Proportional representation rather than first past the post!

CJ just described it this way in the Micromaster thread, which I found really helpful- Co-operations is a three legged race. Teamwork is a relay race. The Constructicons are really good at building stuff, where they each do their allotted task with great skill. But they are rubbish at working together in their combined form of Devastator. So... Constructicons - co-operation 2, teamwork 9? The Aerialbots don't work together as a team as well as the Constructicons, but work a bit better than Devastator as Superion, so... co-operation 5, teamwork 7? On the other hand, the Predacons are all independent operators, who don't have much in common, but Predaking is apparently the perfect combiner, so maybe they have co-operation 10, teamwork 6? Or am I on the wrong track? Martin

8 is off for Magnus, but his function is given as city commander in his tech spec, which is at odds with the New Leader bit he got promoted as. I've always felt there is something odd about Magnus and Galvatron's tech specs. Like Bob was writing them without proper knowledge of the film. They hint at character designs that don't quite match the ones the film ended up giving them.

I don't think Bob Budiansky can be held responsible for the G2 tech-specs.
Also, one limitation with fixed tech-specs is they can't reflect the rank throughout a TF's life, as that will change. Ultra Magnus is leader for about 5 minutes in the Movie future, so he has rank 10 during that period, but in present-day stories like Target: 2006 when he's just Xaaron's most powerful warrior, and quite new, having yet to prove himself, rank 8 is appropriate.
