All specs added up to 1990, which I think covers US G1. Next step is to check the gold box classics to find the ones that are different to the originals, then add the 53 Euro G1 figures from 91-93.

I'm enjoying doing this; it's helping make the later years fit together in my head better. I didn't realise the euro only years were so clear cut separate to the end of the US line. I'd always assumed there was a bit of overlap but I see that came when G2 started in the US and they nicked some of the euro toys from the previous year.
I also see Action Master Prowl's stats are different to the original's.
I like the fact Action Master Starscream's function is Ground Assault - because he can't turn into a plane any more?

I also see Action Master Prowl's stats are different to the original's. His inexplicable and offensive drop in Intelligence struck me like a personal insult as a younger person. Outrageous. The increase in Firepower is welcomed though. |

All G1 data is now in bar gold box classics. Here's something I've had in mind trying to work out since I started this. Who is the MOST AVERAGE Transformer? The one right in the middle of everything? Can you guess? To work this out I did this: - Totaled everyone's stats and found the mean. This is on the chart online. I then took all the means, totaled them and found the mean of that value. That tells us the average of the averages is 7.1. This gives you 20 characters, too many for the definitive Average Joe.
- If you go back to the stats for those 20 and find the median (the middle value) of their data, you get a range of 6.5, 7 and 7.5. If you find the mean of those 20 values you get 7.1, so ditch the characters who have median values of 6.5 and 7.5 because they aren't in the middle of the set, the Average Joe, and the mean of the medians rounded is 7. This leaves you with 14 characters.
- Two of those are Decepticon Micromaster patrols, so ditch them as they're a team and not an individual Mr Average.
- From what's left, the only way to separate them is to use the modal value of their stats (the number that appears most frequently in their set of data). This gives you 6,7,8 and 9. Find the mean of those and you get 7.07, so rounding again, ditch the characters with modes of 6, 8 and 9.
- This leaves you with six characters, four Autobots and two Decepticons.
- One final way to find the definitive Average Joe. The average, median and mode of these six characters is all 7, so who has the most sevens? ONE character remains.
Who is it? (in fact who are those last six?)

The finished G1 list also reveals that Rodimus Prime, Fort Max and Thunderclash have the highest total tech spec count at 78, giving an average of 9.8, and despite having strength 9, the very bottom of the pile is Slugfest, whose total of 40 is worse than absolutely everybody else.

Actually, if we're averaging them out, then it could be someone like Megatron or Metroplex. Super strong, but the speed stat would balance that out.
Not someone who's more or less average across the board to begin with.

Good thinking, but Megatron has four 10s, two 9s and an 8. So his 4 for speed doesn't do much to bring his average down.
