I have no idea who that is. Apart from RiD Magnus. and it wouldn't be him cos he isn't G1. The one with the long teeth?

Incorrect numbers Starscream I removed from this count to ensure he was only represented once, so yes, Martin is right! The most average of all G1 Transformers is Ironhide!

Honorable mentions go to:
2nd by a whisker: Dogfight 3rd: Pointblank, Blitzwing and Mindwipe 6th: Groundbreaker
The Autobots here all show the same trait that crops up a lot - Budiansky was clearly a fan of giving middling characters with no stand out traits Courage 10 just so they had something to make them noteworthy. That comes up a lot.

It's also noticeable that once you get past 1991, the average tech spec scores rise dramatically. The lowest average is 7 and there are tens all over the place.
Overlord is weird though, Intelligence 3, Speed 3 and Skill 2 offset by Endurance 10, Strength 9 and Courage 9. So what we're saying is that he's a complete idiot with no obvious ability in anything except being an impenetrable wall. Does not make sense he's Rank 10 then. He's very similar to Omega Supreme, but Omega is more skillful and intelligent and beats him on Firepower.

Euro Overlord Rank 10 kinda makes sense from the back of the box blurb. It's him vs the Motorvators. Top rank because there isn't anyone else.

'Course, Japanese Masterforce Overlord's tech-specs ratings are much more impressive. And according to soundwavesoblivion.com, his Gigatank and Megajet modules had their own ratings:
Overlord: 10, 10, 9, 10, 10, 10, 10, 9, 78 Giga: 9, 8, 7, 10, 10, 7, 7, 7, 65 Mega: 7, 8, 10, 7, 10, 7, 7, 9, 65

Japanese G1 will be next in. I had thought this table could eventually have every tech spec in it, which is why there's the field for the line, but I'm already noticing it's getting slower to load and sort. I could enable pagination on it to see if that helps, but then I always find it annoying looking at lists across several pages. We could have different tables for different lines, but that defeats the object of being able to compare the characters.

Euro Overlord Rank 10 kinda makes sense from the back of the box blurb. It's him vs the Motorvators. Top rank because there isn't anyone else. It wasn't until I started applying years to these figures that I noticed that. Do we know if the 1991 Action Masters were already planned when Hasbro stopped the line in the US? So in the UK the Motorvators and Overlord were used to pad out the line that year when the action masters ran out? That's helped me realise why the Turbomasters and Predators are so highly regarded here, being the first Transformers produced specifically for Europe. I mean I suppose I did know that, it's just putting all this in a table has helped my brain sort it all out more clearly. Am I right in thinking there was no tie-in media at all for 91-93 other than the end of TF:UK? Which is where TMUK was born after Matt's letter in the last issue and it was only in zines that Thunderclash et al got stories? My TF involvement then was really weak. I started university in 92 so I had other things on my mind. Mostly SF conventions.

Correction to last night's quiz: Martin scores a point for Question 8 - which noun appears most frequently in mottos. It is victory (20 times), which he suggested, not enemy (18) as I said. I hadn't realised when I did the questions that the Micromasters had individual mottos on the back of their cards. I've added all those to my list now and uploaded it as a separate table: www.pinwig.net/mottosI've also fixed a bug in the tech spec table that meant if you used the name drop down to pick any character with a partner they didn't appear.

I hadn't realised when I did the questions that the Micromasters had individual mottos on the back of their cards. I've added all those to my list now and uploaded it as a separate table: www.pinwig.net/mottosThe Micromaster patrol members had individual mottos. The Micromaster combiners had one motto per pairing, i.e. half a motto each. I think we must accept that this means that when a Micromaster combines with someone other than their usual partner, the combined form's motto changes accordingly. So! Phaser combined with Missile Master ('Phase Master') has the motto: "Peace in space is always high!" Meltdown combined with Spaceshot ('Meltshot') has the motto: "Ramming speed is the cornerstone of victory!" Grit combined with Slide ('Grit Slide') has the motto: "Only our Decepticon victory controls destiny!" Make your own fun in lockdown today with mixed-up mottos! Martin

They aren't designed to... Martin's cleverly fitting bits together.
Although his is also combining Autobots with Decepticons. Which is very naughty indeed.
This has also pointed out to me that on both my charts the Micromasters who come with the larger bases aren't in there by name, which makes them harder to find. I'll have to fix that.

Techspec values you'd change Nomination One:
Trailbreaker's strength.
A character who has never been at the forefront of my attentions has had a rapid climb in my affections of late, thanks partly to his outstanding Earthrise figure, and complex characterisation.
I have never seen a G1 Trailbreaker, but my brother had Hoist, so I'm familiar with the mold. It's a solid, bulky form, if a little skinny in the limbs.
The Earthrise figure is amazingly faithful to the proportions and feel of the G1 mold. And it's a mold that is bigger than the normal deluxe sized figures. When you consider several smaller Autobot cars- Prowl, Wheeljack, Sideswipe, achieve a strength of 7, Trailbreaker's 7 seems somewhat... inadequate.
I therefore suggest a more accurate Strength value for Trailbreaker would be 8.

Actionmaster Thundercracker needs a stat change. All existing stats must here to be changed to solid 10s Plus an added stat and a motto change. Appearance and Motto:
