From other forums, if you say you don't like the designs you get people calling you racist and tweeting about how racist you are.
Like not liking the new Ghostbusters automatically made you sexist. As opposed to being someone with critical facilties intact.
Re: these designs, some I like, some I don't. Not sure about the man-bun on Witterquick, and I can't see this new Ectar in a dress! I'm much more of a fan of the original clean armour designs, much in the same way as the original Pretenders. Sort of grungy Mad-Max style stuff interests me far less.

I'm up for this. Give them their own comic, give us a toy line. I'll buy.

I'm not sure we need to integrate them with Transformers from the off though. Magic knights on a planet where science fell isn't exciting enough?

Integrating MASK with GI Joe and Transformers worked so well though!!!

Transformers is the brand that sells. The idea is doing the crossover early hooks some Transformers fans to buy their own book when they do it, when really the crossovr just hooks fans who'll buy any old tat with the TF logo on it.
They haven't yet worked out that what Transformers fans are really interested in is just Transformers.

I'm still bitter over the 16 weeks of the GI Joe/Transformers crossover in the UK comic, with extra GI Joe backup story Thing is, if done properly, a TF/Visionaries crossover would be amazing. If it's "Transformers parachute into WORLD OF MAGIC where technology doesn't work". I have a fear that it will be 'humans/aliens use TF tech to be more powerful' but we shall see!

I can honestly say, as the kid who not many issues before asked on the letters page if we'd be getting another Transformers / Action Force cross-over, I hated the whole thing. I should have written again and been like "wtf was that".

From other forums, if you say you don't like the designs you get people calling you racist and tweeting about how racist you are. I guessed which twitter users and forums and took a look Not much to add, but this "Visionaries failed because it was rubbish" attitude is very telling to me, implying that things that succeed must be good, for some definition of success where popularity is a key factor. I would take the Visionaries brief toyline, comic and cartoon over anything He-Man related.

Yeah, there's a sort of gleeful "this thing you love so much was rubbish and awful and deserved to fail, but also I'm taking the high ground and also calling anyone who disagrees racist." which is the attitude which is pretty much poisoning all conversation nowadays. I remember Visionaries! I loved it! It worked for me! I'm ambivalent on these new redesigns. Wish they hadn't felt the need to fix what wasn't broken but eh, we'll see. I mean, god, ROM didn't get redesigned, and he's a man in a silver suit with a box on his head!

The memory of the IDW crossover is fanding, but I still miss Visionaries as a toyline.

A really random question, but does anyone know how long the Visionaires UK comic lasted for? I've seen four, six and seven issues mentioned. I'm guessing it was four, seeing as issus five and six from America were used as TF back-up strips. And were the covers reprints or UK original art?
Ta,

Brilliant! I suspect the first American issue was broken into two issues over here, and the rest were kept to a single issue,

Tragically cut short. There were rumours a few of the series 2 prototypes made it out into circulation. I have never seen them around. The whole reason I first joined eBay in 1999 was to collect Visionaries.

And yet still no Galadria. That would've pissed me off big-time had that wave ever been released.

Female characters weren't very popular as figures back then but I remember reading that Galadria and Virulina were originally going to be made with hologram shields before being scrapped

They would've been popular with me - but I guess I might have been in the minority.
Of course that said I only had one Visionaries figure anyway - but that's because I only had so much pocket money and a wide variety of toylines I wanted to collect from. But still, Galadria might have been my second...
