Since we've gotten amazing updates of all the core characters in these concepts, both in Masterpiece and Classics scales, I would kill to see them take a stab at the triplechanger Cheetor and Dinobot.
I figure the concept was abandoned because I don't think they could have pulled those off looking that great, back then. But as of Kingdom? I think it might be possible.

I *really* want that triple-changing Gorilla-Eagle-Robot Optimus Primal. And interesting that one of those Megatron designs is closer to AoE Grimlock. I wonder if this was an inspiration, or if it's a result of there only really being a few ways to convert a T-Rex into a humanoid form..?

I have this - the BW2 (metalic gray) one was actually available in Argos under a different name around the same time.
Came with small orange spaceships.
EDIT: It was Index, not Argos.

Can I ask for another set of scans please from those with the relevant UK Biocombat boxes? Again I'm after the crosssell panels Mega Polar Claw & Scorponok

Well, the lion that was eventually named Prowl was obviously designed with Optimus as the intended character.
Aside from that, I can't think of anything about either set that would result in a mad theory.

See that's exactly the path my mind has gone down for years, as that's obviously the Prime head sculpt. So..... What If the Prowl Lion was meant to be another character with a Prime head, other than Optimus? One with a more monochrome appearance, which would help explain the lack of colours used? Perhaps a little like this, with a white head:  That would then help explain the name of the combiner - the Ultra MAGNus name becomes corrupted to MAGNaboss. And *IF* Magnaboss *IS* Ultra Magnus, what does that make the grinning loon he's in opposition too? Tripreicus has always been devoid of G1 callbacks, unlike Magnaboss' team members. What if the whole thing is meant to be Galvatron, but *maybe* plans changed once Takara got involved, which they did in the run up to Beast Wars year 2? |

Having my BW toys out means I can see some stuff that's not obvious from the books It does mean I'm after some photos of some toys I don't own: US 1996 Blackarachnia and Japan 1997 Waspinator, Tarantulas, Blackarchnia and Buzzsaw. For my purposes they need to have their chests open like in the photos below so I can see various obscured pieces    And if anyone has pairs of either US Blackarachnia & Buzzsaw, Japanese Tarantulas & Waspinator or Japanese Blackarachnia & Buzzsaw then seeing the, opened up in the same photo like this would be useful: |

Mr Dallas provides the goods! First US Blackarachnia Here she is with US Buzzsaw  Then Japanese repaint Blackarachnia With her US Counterpart  I knew about the green/grey swap but this confirms my memory the purple was darker too |
