I rarely make retro hardware discoveries, but managed to buy a white Sega Saturn for just £30 on Gumtree last year. It was manufactured in Hong Kong and seems to been installed with a multi-region hardware mod to allow it to run Japanese/US/UK games. It came with Nights, Sonic Jam and a few other Saturn games. Yes, I love Nights on a White Saturn!

Thought about getting a Saturn a few times though never bothered due to space/wouldn't play it much. A £30 multi-region one is quite the bargain though.

I just saw this.
This guy used a SNES console, and just by playing Super Mario World, recodes it into becoming Flappy Bird
Literally insane

Speaking of retro gaming, if you haven't played Cave Story, then you need to hang your head and kill yourself out of shame. And then play it. Cave Story is a freeware game made entirely (gameplay, sprites, music) by one Japanese guy. Sometime this year it is getting an official release on Wiiware. You can download it for free on this site ( www.cavestory.org/downloads_4.php - this is the deluxe package, which includes the English translation, and all the musical tracks seperately!) As far as the game goes, the best description is 'a charmingly nice Metroid'. You play a robot who has lost his memory, trying to save a mysterious island from an evil scientist. There are rabbits, amazing boss fights and dragons! Crazy weapons, secret levels, and parts that will make you sad for your little pixel friend! The entire game is wonderfully retro in appearance, and is easily one of the best games I have ever played. And I am a huge critic! There is literally very little to criticise at all, it is all done so well. And it is free. You have no excuse! A good gameplay trailer: Been playing this on the Switch To fulfil my gaming itch I told you back in 2010 Play it now, put down that pen!

A new Judge Dredd game for the C-64, based on the Diceman issue 1 game.

Wow. He has copies of INPUT on the shelf Makes me want to subscribe just for that. ...however - I've been running a small form factor Atom x86 PC-box with Win10 for years or my soft modded Wii for retro needs and both work well, so not sure custom hardware is really required.
