Trailer is now online:
A distinctly underwhelming affair, with only the narration from Reg E. (Don't Fuck with Querns) Cathey bringing any remote semblance of joy.

It is a bit grim. Glad they seem to be going with the "Negative Zone" origin from Ultimate FF rather than the Space Race original. It makes more sense with the Large Hadron Collider and other high energy physics getting more news coverage than space exploration these days. More being a relative term when it comes to science stories on mainstream news channels.
It might be okay. Maybe.

Nothing about that trailer would have told me that was F4 till the end title if I hadn't already known. And nothing about it really makes me want to see it any more than I did before.

Yes, the trailer for the new Fantastic Four film. There seems to be amazingly little to say about it. Other than the general grayness of everything and everyone. It is as if it is terrified of even suggesting that their might be any enjoyment in their film. Even the trailer for "Jupiter Rising" wasn't as completely joyless as that.
Makes me worry what sort of tone the film is going to have. Because I'm not really getting "superheroes" from that, but I'm also not getting "Science Adventurers" from it either.

Ralph and I were discussing the first superhero movie bomb and thought it a few years away, although both said this could be a suprise and take the crown early.
Hopefully, a more substantial trailer might make this film seem in the least bit interesting.

Okay it made money, but seems to have killed that version of the franchise stone dead.

It did? I thought Sony had a 'pump a Spidey related film out once a year' strategy?

Probably more concerning I think it did worse than Cap, Guardians and XMen did last year.

Ralph desperately needs this to do well so he can get Kang in the movies.
I fear he may be disappointed.

Damn right. Why else would I be there for an early preview screening?
It will be a pleasant surprise! X-Men: First Class looked ultra pump beforehand but was great! It remains my favourite X-Men film by a country mile. That was a Fox film too!

I didn't feel it was as bad as it's getting trashed for being.
I think if you somehow merged this version and the original version, you'd end up with the best version.
But they say Fox intentionally tanked it with bad editing, to get a stab at Disney for being petty enough to destroy them in the comics.

But they say Fox intentionally tanked it with bad editing, to get a stab at Disney for being petty enough to destroy them in the comics. That rumour is utter nonsense. Fox were just desperate to salvage the project but were unwilling to spend any more money on it. That's why it ended up being shunted out without any fanfare. The comic stuff has little bearing on their decision given the numbers that sell. The merchandising and licensing...now THAT is another matter, and ties in with why Fox wouldn't spend more than they have to on FF. Andy
