As do I. But I want a Prowlstator, too. Because if there's one thing that's more awesome than Devastator, it's Devastator with prowl in charge. ;-)

Very exciting indeed. Gosh I hope they get it right! Big room for them to mess it up. Six of them! SIX!!! And he *should* be larger than the other combiners. Not much, just a head and shoulders higher. No, I have hopes, but Green Giant's not going anywhere any time soon, baby!

So the speculation will continue. The price equates to $150 US. I know I paid $115 for Metroplex from Amazon, but what his retail price was I don't know. That's quite a jump up.
If the list price for CW deluxes is $19, which is higher than most places are selling them, then that's still only $114 for six figures. So what's going to be in there to push the price up? Are we looking at a versus set like Grimlock/Bruticus, or is this set going to be a mixture of deluxes and voyagers?

Rumour is it's six Voyagers.
We shall see.
I'd be surprised to see a different size and different combination system this year.

SIX VOYAGERS?!?!!
YIKES! That'd be fantastic! But yes, caution is to be advised 'till we know more.

Does seem a bit odd. Is that rumour derived from the price ($25x6 fits) or did it predate that? Six Voyagers would be an enormous figure - that would come out at Warbotron Bruticus size. Much as that would be a brilliant thing, I'd far rather something that looked in scale with the other combiners. Not necessarily exactly the same height, but six voyagers? that's just huge.

Devastator should be larger than the other combiners though. He was the first. And the best.
But yeah, the more I think about it the more I think they wont change the format.
Or will they?....

Rumor should be huge rock of salt until it's actually said to be.
This, like metroplex will have a limited production run and limited retail release. Not a lot of wiggle room to make their money back. Six all new molds, deluxe class with a much smaller run than a full retail release like, say Dragstrip for example. Dragstrip can be found anywhere that carries transformers, from online retailers straight to some grocery stores. Metroplex was only carried by costco and tru. Which restricted most people to buying it online. Also, it was well out of most kids "begging" range, which made it a special gift for them, leaving adult collectors being almost exclusively to bare the burdon. $150 USD sounds about right for a small run of 6 all new molds (seven if they feel like being generous and throwing in a legend that becomes the chest wing thing). Also keep in mind that that "farmageddon" threepack has a similar sized run, and almost the same exclusivity as this will... And is just repaints... But is over $100. And the insecticons are REALLY old molds, too, and they're $80. And not much different than the modern legends.
As deluxes, hasbro has more options, to break them down and sell individual repaints to help recoup the expense of the molds. They can be repainted elsewhere in CW as other characters (rid landfill off the top of my head). This is really hard, to impossible to do with voyager sized guys and basically reduce him to a one time use thing, like Metroplex. It seems logical to me that all these factors would make voyager class more unlikely, and would probably be around $200.

Six voyagers would be only slightly larger than CW Superion and Prime. It would be around equal to TFC Hercules, which is only slightly larger than the deluxe equivalent Maketoys Giant, who's on par with CW Superion. So it's not an impressive difference.

I think it'll get a tweak:each limb will only be ale to be that limb: so Sacvenger is the right arm, scrapper the right leg. This will help with Devastator's legs: out of all the G1 combiners he's the only western one that has the feet as part of the leg bots, Then there's the torso formed from two deluxe rather than a Voyager. So all little tweaks, but enough to take it out of the interchangeable pattern established elsewhere on the carded stuff and put it in a box by itself.

Hmm. As excited as I am about the idea of a Combiner Wars Devastator, I really don't want it to be a six-Voyager combiner. Mainly because I still want Prowlvastator to be an option. But given that Prowl has since been revealed to most likely be a limb for Optimus, I guess that was never going to happen anyway (unless they made a Deluxe Prowl that could a car, robot, arm, leg, or upper torso - and that ain't gonna happen, not without being a really shitty toy anyway). So either six Voyagers, or six over-priced Deluxes with... something... to justify the cost of the gimmick... I am, if nothing else, intrigued.

Although as CJ points out (and which I would have noticed before posting, had I not been drinking and thus been able to count the number of pages per thread... *sigh*...), given the cost of the reissue Insecticons, these could well be six, limited-run Deluxe molds... Curiouser and curiouser...

6 voyagers shouldnt be that much bigger than othere CW combiners. Thats if Devastator stays true to the original toy.
Voyagers in vehicle mode arent usually that much bigger than deluxes, at least in terms of lengths, meaning that voyager legs arent going to be that much longer than deluxe ones. And unlike Scramble city torsos which are voyagers spread out as big as possibly, the constructicons are 2 voyagers more or less in vehicle mode squished together.
My only concern is that the deluxe CW arms already look slightly too bulky, voyager ones on a figure not much taller could be bad. Hopefully part of the reason for the box set is so that they all don't have to be standard size voyagers and the bulk can be used where it is needed not were the price point for each demands it.

Got an exact date? Ours is late Jan and Hasbro might show something there as we're getting CW. Can never remember when Nurenberg is though it's usually Lego stuff that's shown there

Just seen the news sites now running with Devastator on the first post. So he'll be Titan size - so which members would Hasbro use? We have had other Constructicons over the years - Hightower being one extra name. Could it be a 8 set where we have 4 long for the limbs & the other 4 being torso or maybe 3? But not going for ROTF beast like combined form.

If Generations over the last couple of years (and certainly since the new design team came in) is any guide it seems a safe bet it will be based on the G1 6 bot team. The fact it is a single boxset means they dont have to worry about them all looking similar, so they should all be green. Alt modes are varied enough so doubt there will be much change there either.
If anything its just the names that Hasbro might not have the rights too.
Dont want to get my hopes up, but Superion was good, Menasor is growing on me. Metroplex was a great first stab at a Titan class figure too. The boxset removes restrictions that might have hampered the figures if they had been released individually.
Hasbro really might just pull off the sort of Devastator I want.

99.1% positive it'll be the classic G1 line up, compensating for lost names. Hasbro has never done a full and true g1 devastator. I believe the only names unusable are Hook and Scrapper. So they'll probably call Hook Hightower as that seems to be the go-to replacement post RiD. Scrapper, that's harder. They've used Buckethead in the past. They may also use Dirtboss, as that seems more fitting. They may also go a whole new name. Who woulda figured they'd replace the name Slingshot with something as clunky and inelegant as Alpha Bravo?
Edit: as of Kreo, it seems they got Scrapper back. So as of Kreo then the g1 names are Scrapper, Scavenger, Longhaul, Mixmaster, Bonecrusher, and Hightower.
Past constructicon names- Scrapper Hook Longhaul Bonecrusher Mixmaster Scavenger
Quickmix Hightower Steamhammer Duststorm Sledge Wideload Demolishor Scrapmetal Payload Overload Rampage Buckethead Drillbit
Those are all the names I can find that HASBRO has used for toys, not counting takara or fiction only.
