Oh dear. Bright purple stripe down the middle of the waist with two large green plates either side. I've seen it, I can't unsee it! Bad Phil! -Ralph

Also Hook's crane should double over to form a shoulder cannon.

Fantastic pics, Andy.
I'm warming to Devastator. I don't know what I was expecting, but initially I just didn't feel The Love. I still don't necessarily feel The Love, still bothered about the proportions and the general thinness, but I am now warming to him. Dying to know just how big he's going to be. Something to rival Metroplex (not that I own a Metroplex) would be fun IMO.

You have to buy him because of the Prowl connection to Devastator in IDW. He is a Prowl toy by proxy.

I think it'll look a lot more impressive in a better pose. All told, it looks pretty good! I'm content with Green Giant, but I'm glad "proper" Devastator has turned out well too.

Devastators head - to the left, is that a peg on the purple part? I guess that the head is sat on a purple bit that fits onto Hook - but could the head fold down & that peg being a connector for maybe a car Prowl to sit ontop.

I dunno. I kind of like it. It makes him look like a bodybuilder on steroids.
Wait.
You mean the head on his shoulders, right..?

Devastator Devastator Devastator.
I want to like him so much. And I'm going to get one. But, ahhh, he's not as good as I'd hoped he would be. Green Giant just looks more..... dynamic. We'll see. Need comparison shots to get a good feel for him. Good they've done him tough! Well done in that respect Hasbro! And he's not terrible by any means.

I think it looks really good. He's outwith the size range I usually go for these days, but really good nonetheless.

Devastator looks fabulous. Can't see anything to complain about there. Intrigued by the 'adult Combiner Wars t-shirts'!
Jem and the Holograms movie! Group outing!

I feel like I'm moaning a lot at the moment. I want to correct that. Although the head is a bit odd to me on Devastator, I don't want that to eclipse the fact that I think it looks utterly superb. Devastator is one figure I've never had and have always wanted, and this version is far beyond anything I could have ever hoped for as an official release. The official image looks brilliant, and I really hope we get to see some highly detailed pics of the actual toy tomorrow.

But yeah, always wanted a Devastator too, never got one. (Aside from an undersize G1 knock-off. And the Universe Micromaster repaint. And the RotF Legends Devastator. But *aside* from them...) For that reason alone, I'm pretty excited. And though the head may be the weak point, I'm pretty sure that in person that's not going to make much difference at all. Because it's huge-ass. And it's DEVASTATOR.

Did you not Encore?
I had a Woolworths probably Chinese set of Constructicons in the early 90s and then another Devastator late 90s and finally the Encore edition. I've still got the Micromaster one which rocks, and did have the chase Japanese Micromaster one. Had the Energon one too.
And of course the Action Master
I know Devastator is on the Top 5 to do list but I think it's considerably in the future due to the imminent new version.
Would love to own the Universe repaint of the RID one.
It's a bit hard to do a bad Devastator but ROTF managed it!

But how huge-ass is he? That's what I want to know. Shallow? Maybe. But I'm comfortable with who I am and who I am is someone who wants to know exactly how big he is.

Guesstimates range from 16-18 inches. A fair bit bigger than CW Superion who's 12 inches high.

I am sure we will have six gazillion images to look forward to tomorrow. If the individual robots look just as good I may have to start putting pennies aside. Oh I hope there is a G2 orange repaint.

As I believe I have said elsewhere recently, I am not very bright. That or my priorities were different when Encore Devastator was on sale. I was probably spending my money trying to impress one of my previous women. And I know I was wrong to do so. I mean, really, what was the point of that in the end? Do I have any of my previous women boxed in pristine condition in my loft, like I do my Transformers? I'd rather not comment any further without my lawyer present. It's a bit hard to do a bad Devastator but ROTF managed it! I actually really liked the design of RotF Devastator. (But see above.) The Supreme toy, however, was a massive disappointment. Which I think is why I like the Legends version so much - sure, the Gestalt form is pretty much unposeable, but they managed to make the smaller scale toy better than the much larger scale toy. Go Takara!

He looks pretty amazing. But the size and space really put me off. He'd probably need a whole room corner to himself, and if I ever get anyone who needs me to commit that kind of space to him, it'll be encore Fort Max.
Unless... I display his components individually?
DAMMIT.

Hasbro didn't show his individual components with the official picture sent with the press release. And if that bad tiny pic of the display room is indication, it kinda looks like they're not there, either. This is a worrying sign.

Size wise, bigger the better for me!!!

No, I wish I had, and at some point I will. One of my ongoing lists is to complete the 84/85 set, so I will have one at some point. The only Devastator of any sort I have is the one I think Llama mentioned - the Energon badged Micromaster combiner, but he's a poor stand in.
