Sorry to hear of the troubles M, but sounds like it might not be worth going back. Signed off again for another two weeks which will take us up to Christmas holidays. I've spent much of the first period in a haze of dental pain and medication so no decisions have been made yet. Heard from a colleague this morning. Things seemed to be deteriorating fast at work.

Indeed. I think I'd rather leave on good terms personally there with folk rather than stringing it out with uncertainty. In my head I think I'm there with that decision but still need to convincr myself emotionally and that work stress is greater at this point than no income stress.

If you're in a position where you can manage the income issue I would prioritise getting rid of the work stress. Of course, this is easier said than done. I don't feel any difference at all in my stress/anxiety since I had to leave my job early two and a half weeks ago and sleep badly with weird physical symptoms but I know logically in time my brain will process that the major source of stress is gone and I'll relax. Same for yourself.
I'll run down every penny I have before signing on for Universal Credit. Alas, I know from my work experience that it's a punishment system rather than a helping system. So I advise also watching your pennies.

'Exit Interview' from work later. Hopefully a swift and final end to 19 months in the most toxic workplace I've experienced. Or more crap. We'll see.

Done. Just a word document of the call to sign off on when it arrives and I can finally start putting the last 19 months of damage to my physical and mental health behind me.

I was also asked if I had experienced bullying, harrassment or intimidation as well as if I thought I had been treated "fairly". The more I think about it the more odd that interview seems.
Well it's done now.

Who knows.
In 19 months I was never given one bit of positive feedback from manager, nor did I have a single supervision session or was trained as to what I was supposed to do. Just told I wasn't doing things right, etc. Never thanked for anything. For context, I have prior experience of closely working with people for a long time who were convicted of very serious crimes and did so without a sweat or taking the work mentally home but every day I shat myself going into this job due to the toxicity of the organisation. I am obviously not going into details in public. The only thing that stopped me having a breakdown earlier was being furloughed due to covid situation.
In my previous workplace, the exit interview was with my line manager (not HR), involved a free lunch and lots of positive feedback. None of these types of questions.
Anyway, done now. I'll sign the document when it comes through then try for something else post-new year when the covid picture is hopefully clearer and I can find an employer that values me. In the meantime, tightening belt due to no income.
I'm not taking legal action though I have a case to do so. It would destroy my health. Just want to find somewhere nice to work.

As I said, someone in HR knows how badly they fucked up and how liable they would be for any claim hence why HR conducted the interview.
Best done with them now.

Managed to pass most recent OU essay, which considering I was having a breakdown at the time is something to be pleased with. Anxiety has increased so after a few chats with Dr Quack I have reluctantly decided to try prescribed happy pills for a bit. Counselling starts next week. The current medical practice are being very supportive. Looked at what I've managed to save with how realistic it will be to get a new job first quarter of 2021 and had to reluctantly conclude I'll run out of money first. The jobs I do require Disclosures etc so even in the fantasy of getting offered a job on January 1st it would be sometime in February before starting and March before any pay. More likely Q2 of 2021 before I can get something in this pandemic So I'll have to sign on to the benefits punishment system in January. -Ralph

I've been helping a friend to move flats this week, which has been stressful enough, but we've managed all but the furniture and last few boxes. Unfortunately we've also lost three Man with Vans (two to the Chaos Bug and one to having his van vandalised) so any good thoughts you have spare to help us get this sorted by the end of the weekend would be great

The Sertaline was a HUGE help to me when I was really struggling.
Everyone says it, and I know you probably know it, but don't immediately go "This isn't working", give them a few weeks to settle in. And when they do work don't immediately think "sorted" and drop them.

I'm only doing it because I have faith in the medical practice giving the advice. If it has been the last lot, I wouldn't have listened to them. Their greatest hits included telling me I had had a heart attack when I had pulled an intercostal chest muscle (and on another occasion told me I was imagining it), told me to take Gaviscon for foot pain then misdiagnosed the foot pain and put me on the wrong exercises (I had to go pay for a private physio who worked out the problem in under 2 mins and got me mobile again with the right exercises in under a month). They also diagnosed me with osteoarthritis for life. With the latter, when I got in front of a competent health professional elsewhere they worked out in under a minute that it was mild carpal tunnel which will resolve itself. Current practice is gold. Properly listened to, action is taken quickly and they get things right. -Ralph
