Sertraline has a really good balance between effectiveness and side effects. I have previously been on venlafaxine which is really good but has strong side effects

Recognise the name and having checked (and checked I can say this!) Liz is on it and says it suits her very well.

I'd rather have the blue gel Dr Crusher had at the back of sickbay in every episode of TNG.

Ordered a home test kit for myself. This could explain why my pain issue has suddenly flared up of late with none of the usual precursors. How I post it back when I can't go outside is a problem for another day.
Jen's symptoms are just like a cold so far.
I haven't been in a shop for 10 days (would have been in Smyths on Sunday but I got out the car, counted the giant queue and got back in the car and we left) and have no contact with anyone else. No public transport or job to go to. Jen keeps distance and wears mask at all times when working. We stayed in at Christmas and only saw people on Skype/zoom. We have no idea how it got in.

It just goes to show how easily it can be acquired even with precautions. No system is 100% effective. Hopefully we can all learn a lesson here and redouble our efforts to stay safe.

Yes you did. And like back in the summer it would probably have been enough if the virus wasn't at such high levels in the community around you.
This is why Government should have taken stronger action back in September like they were advised to do instead of doing the opposite by opening schools, pubs and universities etc. Measures like masks, hand washing, etc add layers of protection that reduce the likelihood of transmission especially at low levels of community infection but cannot give invincibility or cope with the high background we currently have.
If anyone 'deserves' not to get it it is you two. You have both been meticulous.

That is an incredibly crass and sanctimonious thing to say. Someone says their partner has covid which they have gone on record as being worried about them contracting and you say hopefully we can all learn a lesson. Words of encouragement and support were needed. Not that. DO BETTER.

I was trying to say that this is neither Ralph nor his partner's fault. They are definitely not 'wrong' here. I've seen their precautions in action and only meant to emphasise that they had done everything correctly but no system is 100% foolproof so there is no blame to be had on their part.

See what I said about sanctimonious. You are still doing it, Don't apologise for not being clear, apologise for what you said in the first place, Ralph posted in the channeling thread which is generally where we are looking for a support and encouragement. None of which where present in your post and the fact you can't see that baffles me.

In fairness he was reponding to Ralph saying "we have no idea how it got in" and rightly trying to reassure that it was no fault of theirs.
It just didn't read that way as well as it could.

NHS Test and Trace is shite. You don't get a phone call. Just an automated email telling you to log into an online portal thingy that you need a password for! Matt Hancock can go fuck himself. No help or support, just stay inside or be fined. Luckily, we can call on people to pick up food and meds or we would be screwed. Jen will lose income too as she is self employed.

I'm so sorry to hear about Jen and your situation, Ralph, it's a terrible shock and I hope any symptoms are mild. The encouraging thing to keep in mind is that even if they aren't, the quality of treatment and likely outcomes for individuals are much better now than they were if either of you'd got it at the start of the pandemic. But hopefully the next couple of weeks will pass without incident and you'll be able to relax.
Prayers and best wishes for you both.

"World beating system". Fuck off, Boris. And remember how we were supposed to have army of volunteers to help people isolating? Guess that was vapourware. No contact from NHS Test and Trace. It feels like you're just told to wall yourself up and die. Or be fined! -Ralph

Due to when Jen first got symptoms, an automated text from Test and Trace (still no call) says she can end her isolation on the 4th of Jan if there is no fever but will probably stay inside longer to be on the safe side.
Right sided chest pains for me. Had it on and off for a few days and hadn't thought anything about it really as it feels just like when I pulled a left chest muscle earlier in the year (which started acting up again recently) so I had been doing less exercise. This is probably the same thing as it's the same area and may have been set off by stress or lying too much on my right side due to resurgence of other left sided pain issue. Hasn't stopped my head from going to dreadful places though.
Spent the night sleeping on the couch as we need to stay apart as much as possible. Horrible. Popped my head round the bedroom door from time to time to check my fiance was still breathing, which is a fucking horrible thing to type but she has bad asthma and has had pnuemonia in the past.
Hopefully my home testing kit arrives today, which I will then somehow teleport into a post box once I've done the swabs.

Got my home test kit. Instructions say the test has to be the done the day it is posted and not day before or bank holiday. There is a link to the 'Priority' post boxes and it has to go in one of them, specifically. Can't do it tomorrow as it is a bank holiday so no collections (the instructions say not to post on a bank holiday). So I won't be able to do it and post it for another *two days* and will need someone to come get it for me as the nearest Priority box is 0.6miles away at the local post office and not either of the two boxes a few mins away. Can't go to a walk-in centre, not allowed out. Can't go to drive-through (I don't drive and Jen isn't allowed to leave the house).
My head is caving in. I can't cope with this. I don't know if the headaches and chest pain are covid or stress and I can't give my other half a hug.

As you've had chest pains before, isn't it likely to be the same thing? And the stress you're under is likely to make all that stuff worse anyway? Chest pains on one side aren't listed as one of the common symptoms of Covid.
As for the test, it wasn't going to help you in and of itself, and there's nothing you can do so you should just try to forget it until Saturday. You've done all you can.
I wish I could swap places with you and Jen and take the worry off you, but I can't. You need to be strong for each other and ride it out as best you can, provided the symptoms don't seriously worsen.
