No change in Jen's condition. I have headache, sore throat and running hot and cold and generally knackered. All feels the same as a common cold though.

Missed these messages, sorry to hear that Ralph. Good luck with the test if you haven't done it yet; the nose bit was surprisingly easy for me but I needed Hayley to do the throat swab as I was incapable! Fingers crossed the virus passes for you quick!! Any support you need just shoot a message

Home test done. That was surprisingly ok as the explanatory video is very clear and easy to follow. Then my problems began. Kept getting error messages when trying to register the kit online (which you have to do). So I tried it on the mobile with scanning the barcodes but that wouldn't work either, by which point I got very stressed. Phoned the helpine and someone got it sorted for me. Then I had the big problem. You need to assemble a box (!) to put it in. Not a straightforward 'tab A into slot B' jobbie. I just couldn't figure out how to put it together and had a meltdown as my head caved in again. Jen had to break bedroom quarantine to come and do it for me. Just waiting on a friend swinging by to put it in the nearest 'priority post box' for us. I have anti-vacc'd the box to oblivion. The box doesn't strike me as very secure so added a ton of tape to it.
Jen's symptoms remain minor thank fuck. I keep going to pieces though.

Not surprised, given the stress you're under and have been.
Concentrate on that you both seem to have lesser symptoms.
I could post the White Hubcap picture again if it would help?

Had managed to miss all of this until it popped up in the other thread. Much love and hugs to you both, Ralph.

With perfect comedy timing, getting a lot of painful sensitivity to cold in recent days where the dodgy tooth is. Its' time for pulling must be drawing near. Obviously, I can't go near a dentist at the moment.

My test just came back. I am NEGATIVE.
Jen's symptoms remain minor and her isolation period is up after tomorrow.
We have been very, very lucky.

Catch-up with the GP today. Signed off work (even though I am now unemployed) for another 4 weeks then a review. More time is needed for the meds and counselling to have an effect. I'll include the sick note with the UC claim later, which I expect the DWP to ignore. Just not in the right place mentally for being able to work at the moment but hoping in a month or two to be in a better place to more actively look for something. I don't want to be on benefits for long as I have a strong work ethic but we are where we are. Looking for a 1-1 support job without being vaccinated with the virus where it is at the moment also feels a bit like a death-wish.

Big head stretches ahead. New boiler instillation on Wednesday and roofers in the loft on Thursday. Not coping well with the thought of people in the hoise for several hours while Jen is out and I am in alone. We need the work done though so we can get the heating back and to stop indoor rain.

I am going to assume the engineers will not want you anywhere near them while they are working for similar reasons.
Fire up Netflix and marathon someething, maybe that exciting Transformers series again, or if you have Amazon Prime - there is always Shakma!

Nightmare. Now the boiler man is having to rearrange and will be coming at exactly THE SAME TIME tomorrow as the roofers so will have folk working upstairs and downstairs while I hide in the bedroom. My head is just not coping with this.

Roofers cock-up meant they were double booked so now they are coming on Monday afternoon. Waiting on Boiler Man. Currently 65 mins late.

At least it means you don't have to deal with two lots of workmen at the same time, which is something? Waiting anxiously to learn if you have heat restored... Martin

My head blew up on the day as the workmen kept coming to ask me questions I didn't understand every 5 minutes when I was trying to hide upstairs and they weren't wearing masks, which sent me into a panic when they came upstairs to do the radiators. I was also Very Unhappy at constant calls to Jen saying they hadn't been paid (they had been). We have heating now though.
Today is the roofers. Was told the job was all written down so all I would have to do is say hello and ask them to carry on. They came to the door and said: "Uh, you have a problem with your roof. What needs doing?" at which point my head caved in and I couldn't cope so I phoned Jen so she could speak to them. Had a complete panic attack. Fuck sakes. How can I get back into work if my head caves in with little things like that?

The rest of the roofer visit went without a hitch so we now have indoor heat and no more indoors rain.
Finished up the counsellor appts yesterday as well and was so knackered I was in bed by 8pm. GP Call tomorrow.

Good chat with the GP. Signed off for another 6 weeks until mid-March then reviewing then. Agreed that I have made progress and hope to able to be taken off sick notes and able to look for work in March/April.

Just been told no entitlement to benefits whatsoever, even though I am unemployed due to end of contract (so not my fault) and am currently signed off sick for any work by a GP. Apparently I am supposed to live off fumes until I am better. Fucking Tory bastards.

Technically, I am not refused. I have been awarded a benefit of £0.00 and this will be paid monthly. There is a statement of award to this effect. This is a way for the Government to diddle the figures as it means you can be counted as receiving benefits without actually being given any money.
Later today, I am to be called as part of my 'claimant commitment' to remind me that I must continue to provide sick notes to be eligible for my monthly payments of £0.00.
Under the Tories the message is clear: if you lose you're job we will not help you even though you have paid National Insurance. If you get sick and can't work for a while: fuck off and die.

Oof. Are they counting Jen's income as well?

Its usually down to savings or partners income. But the thresholds are ridiculous.
