Think it will be lots of art from comics, toys, licensed material and the Filmation show.

Think it will be lots of art from comics, toys, licensed material and the Filmation show. Andy It is. Real mixed bag. Not enough art from the toys. Some of the boxart from the vehicles and the playsets is superb and it's not complete at all, in fact there's nowhere near enough of that. Hardly any of the card back top illustrations and most of the ones that are there are poor. There's a couple of co sell galleries but they're woefully incomplete. I liked the filmation character cell that you could put against various backgrounds. The section on the minicomics again is woefully incomplete, you'd have thought if they weren't including the content that a complete cover gallery might be in order. The covers they do have are woefully out of order too, just like the cosells. The writing is dreadful. Reads like a fanboy blog in places. Given that I discovered that the Minicomics were being collected separately after ordering I think what I was hoping for was something along the lines of the TF Boxart book and this isn't it. I suspect I shall be rehoming this PDQ

Always disappointing, but then I think we have been spoiled with Generations and then the sterling work of Messrs Sorenson and Forster in terms of TF artbooks.
I dare say a few MOTU fans will be cock a hoop with this book.

Click on the suggested link at the end for The Marvel Universe 1987 float and thrill to Doctor Doom mincing at Captain America.

Having flicked through it and read bits of it I am now reading through it properly. All 1000+ pages of it. great fun if a bit unwieldy to hold due to the weight of it.
I see there is a volume of collected newspaper strips coming out, which does intrigue as I do not think I have seen them before.
Let us hope the next logical step is to print the UK comics material.

Reading it now, its a great collection, ridiculously good value for the £20 Amazon is asking. They are missing a handful of strips near the end though, but have summaries from the original scripts

I've been reading the mini comics book, first couple of years worth of comics so far. I think I've said this before, but it shows how beneficial it was for Transformers that Shooter and Budiansky put together a solid origin that everything else was built from.
When you try to reconcile those first five motu DC comics, the Glut stories and the following mini-comics, there's a right mish-mash of ideas that don't connect properly. I did like the way the Tale of Teela made sense of the Goddess/Teela confusion though. Great pack-in fun, I'm really enjoying them. I also see now where all these weird origins recolours come from.
