Im just not aware enough of animation model Bruticus to get what Takara have done. Even down to the design of Blast off. I like it, but Shitstorm looks more Blast Offy than Blast Off.
Bruticus chest looks all wrong. So Im torn. If I could buy Unite Blast Off on its own I would and then get a full CW set. But to get the set I want I'd have to buy the full Unite set plus Onslaught, Shitstorm and Shockwave from CW.
Ive already taken back the Wave 4 deluxes I bought last month because I felt I was overdosing on CW. So an 8 bot Combaticon set is undesirable. Espcially as that will increase to 14 when the G2 set comes out.
Ive similar annoyance with Unite Defensor.
I just keep hoping Hasbro will eventually release Groove and Blast Off on their own.

Blast Off and Swindles colour layouts are bonkers in vehicle modes too. Vortex is a bit iffy as well.
Admittedly I like the added purple on Swindles robot mode.

I have to admit I'm finding it harder and harder to be really excited by the design. I'd take this over a plane any day, but the aesthetic is quite some way from the other figures. I think there's too much black to.

He was pretty much all over brown with a purple chest. The Hasbro one is closer, this one is anime light-brown in colour. Problem is this Takara mould looks much more detailed than the Hasbro ones, so a plain brown paint job would make it look unfinished. It would be better I think if the black was a darker brown to give two tones.

Those Onslaught photos have been cunningly posed to hide the outside of the legs in robot mode ...... which if you look at the front of the combined mode legs are a completely different colour! |
